Doctors and their techniques

When we get severely injured and have illness due to weakness then a doctor plays a humongous role as the doctor moulds us and makes us a resurgent individual; the amount of work which doctor does on us is unbelievable and unthinkable;

But it doesn’t mean that we should worship a doctor like god and goddess , because no matter how good a doctor is the main intention of the doctor is to make the individual come to the clinic and hospital ‘n’ times only for the sake of earning money in the name of treatment and this is a hidden fact which almost all doctors do in the name of their profession ;

There is no doubt that it’s very easy to criticize the process of doctor but the excruciating fact is that now the doctors think and somewhat believe that the patient is helpless as a result the doctors have innumerable power.

Power of a Student

When an individual becomes a student then that individual should remember forever that the tag of student is not for 4-6 years that tag is for lifetime;

Because knowledge which a student can get by living the life of a student is priceless and to have such attitude and gesture will definitely give more knowledge and  that individual would somewhat become a wise individual;

The freedom which a student gets is unbelievable and unthinkable because the life and lifestyle of student is always sumptuous and luxurious; by being a student we are open to learn new things and grasp new concepts which an individual doesn’t show eagerness towards new things

Story to the Play-Offs in the Tata IPL 2022

For the first time in the history of IPL MI and CSK were not a part of the play-offs. MI had an awful season which was full of downs only whereas CSK had a terrible season where at the final junction they made a captaincy change and handed over the reins back to their Thala Dhoni. Due to such poor decisions and captaincy this time we have new entrants in the form of Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans.

The likes of KKR, DC, and PBKS had a solid chance but failed to make a mark. SRH in particular had the game in their bag but lost 4-5 consecutive matches and handed the momentum to the other teams like RCB and RR. They had the speedster Umran Malik who used to cut the opponent in half and a talented Natarajan who is known for his witty variations.

PBKS now have made a habit of finishing at 6th position as this is their record 3rd Year where they have finished at No.6 position. It’s high time that PBKS look into a new Coaching Staff as Head Coach Anil Kumble isn’t showing productive results.

KKR had a good start but they succumbed to pressure in the middle of the tournament. The new Skipper Shreyas found it tough going on since scoring wasn’t easy as he didn’t get any support from the rest of the batters. The likes of Narine and Russell showed a lot of promise but weren’t able to take the team over the finish line which was badly needed. The Senior Batter Nitish Rana too had a forgettable season according to his credentials as it was expected that he will take responsibility for scoring the bulk of the runs. A piece of news came in that McCullum has been the Head Coach of England which now means that KKR will have to find a New Head Coach for the upcoming season. All in all, KKR made a mistake by dropping and not retaining Eoin Morgan, they forgot that he was the only man who took KKR from tatters to a Finals in the 2021 Season in the second leg of IPL in UAE.

LSG and GT had Indian Captains who were inexperienced in the form of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya; KL Rahul has had the experience of captaining Punjab Kings for 4 years where as Hardik Pandya was completely new to the role for Gujarat Titans.

The Coaches of  LSG and GT Gary Kirsten and Andy Flower who have experience in coaching national as well as franchise cricket were entrusted with these young blokes.

We will analyze how these four teams have reached this junction where there are chances that we may have a new winner either in the form of RCB, LSG or GT as Rajasthan Royals earlier had won the title in 2008.

  • GT

CVC Capitals owners of Gujarat Titans so far have had a dream season as they were the first time to qualify and at the same moment, they want 10 matches out of 14. They were on the worse of breaking the meaning of most matches in IPL as till now only 11 matches have been won by a team in league stages.

Head Coach Gary Kirsten has done a fabulous job as he has mental the out of form Hardik Pandya and made sure that Hardik finds his group once again because earlier in the 2021 T20 World Cup he had a horrible T20 World Cup where he not only scored runs but damage team India’s reputation at the World Stage. It was the first time that Hardik Pandya was captaining an IPL team so he had extra responsibility on his shoulders. Gary Kirsten has rejuvenated Pandya and now once again he has made a comeback to the National Cricket Team.

Throughout the season Gujarat Titans have been very good chasers where they chased down 12 runs in two balls against Punjab Kings and scored 21 runs in the last over against SRH. At the same moment, Mumbai Indian’s fast bowler Daniel Sams had defended 9 runs of the last over when the likes of David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan three finishers were present at the crease. In that match, Daniel Sams used pace variation and bolt of cutters and wide of stump your curse which meant that scoring was difficult. However, it also means that Gujarat items aren’t 100% sure shot while chasing a target as changing 9 runs requires one boundary and at the end of that match they lose by more than four runs.

The likes of Shubhman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha have been fabulous with the bad especially Saha who has re-invented himself after his fallout with Journalist Boria Mazumdar. Shah nose that it’s unlikely that he will play for India again as he doesn’t have age on his side and India has a lot of wicketkeepers better present in the form of Rishabh pant Ishan Kishan and now Dinesh Kartik has also received a call-up and there is KL Rahul also. All in all Gujarat Titans looks decent and a formidable team that can and has spoiled a lot of teams’ parties till now and it won’t be a surprise if they win the title this year.

  • Strengths of GT

Day has a never to say die attitude as in the match against Lucknow super giants they defended below the part total of fewer than 140 runs which speaks a lot about their team’s culture. They have got excellent fast bowlers present in the form of Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson which means that 8 overs are going to be tough.

  • Weakness of GT

The Skipper Hardik Pandya is not scoring runs which is the big worry because every time the likes of India Miller and Rashid Khan are not going to take the team out of the muddle. It’s high time now that the likes of Shubhman Gill have to play a match-winning knock and improve his strike rate as scoring a half century in 40 balls is not going to do the team a great favor.

  • Strategies to succeed

Gujarat Titans better need to make sure that there are scoring at least 18200 runs while batting first at Kolkata Eden Gardens. Gujarat Titans have a very good bowling line up but defending 140-150 runs won’t be easy at Eden gardens where the pitch is a run fest. The openers Gill and Saha who have earlier played in Kolkata know that a score of 200 also isn’t safe. It means that if Gujarat Titans are asked to be bad first then need to put the accelerator on the very first ball itself as Rajasthan Royals have a very good bowling line a present in the form of Chahal and Ashwin.

GT can’t just relax as Rajasthan Royals have got battles present in 7 to 8 position like Ravichandran Ashwin’s score of 50 and 40 runs cameo which means that they bat very deep. They should avoid taking the match to the 20th over and instead play the match of a 19 over. There are chances that the team that balls first will win the match but it doesn’t mean that defending will be heard as there would be a swing for Shami and. Ferguson. The role of Rashid becomes an extremely important year as his four hours will decide the outcome of the match.

In the last recent matches, GT had used Wade at Number 3 position, and if he is being used he needs to bat at the top order because weird hasn’t batted in the middle order or at least in the number three position in his entire career. All in all Gujarat Titans would be very of Rajasthan Royals thread factor because there every bowler has the caliber of taking 5 wickets which can decimate the opponent team.

  • Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals had a wonderful start to the tournament as Jos Buttler was in sublime form. He has scored three centuries still now and has code 600 odd runs in 14 matches. Cricket experts have started to compare and were the quite sure shot that he will break the record of Virat Kohli’s 973 runs which he had scored in the 2016 edition. But later in the second half of the tournament, his form was very much poor which man that Rajasthan Royals started losing their matches as RR was completely a one-man show/army.

The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Paddikal, and Sanju Samson took the responsibility on their shoulders and scored runs in BITS and pieces like the 30s and 40s and made sure that Rajasthan Royals are posting challenging totals on the board. They used Ravichandran Ashwin in very scored a half century against Delhi Capitals; that match was a crunch match. That match was an interesting one as the winner would have taken one step closer to making it to the playoffs. The entire tournament for Rajasthan Royals was a Topsy turvy at the found momentum in every crucial phase as winning 9 matches out of 14 doesn’t happen overnight.

The dream combo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Chahal prove to be too hot as their 8 overs yielded 3 to 4 wickets which changed the dynamics of the game. The presence of Trent boult and Prasidh Krishna meant that Rajasthan Royal’s fast bowlers are bowling immaculate and impeccable liner lengths. The bowling attack of the Rajasthan Royals was superb; Chahal had taken a hattrick against KKR in a very tight match.

  • Strengths of RR

For the first time in the history of the Rajasthan Royals, they have everything in their hand. They have got good strikers finishers present in the form of Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag and good dashing openers. The entire Rajasthan Royals fans community would be happy because this time it looks like they will end the wait of more than a decade of winning an IPL as they were the first time to win the IPL in 2008.

  • Weakness of RR

Rajasthan Royal’s main weakness is that they can fall like a pack of cards when the top order has not scored runs. The likes of Parag and Shimron Hetmyer need to be careful as Gujarat Titans have got a very good bowling line-up that can rip off their batting line-up. All in all, the initial stage is going to be pivotal and crucial for Rajasthan Royals’ innings and if they can get away without losing 3 to 4 wickets in the first 10 overs then the game is theirs.

  • Strategies to Succeed

Rajasthan Royals management should not use Ashwin as a number free better because he Skoda half century that’s no doubt about it but he consumed 40 deliveries in doing that. The likes of Paddikal and Samson should bat at Number 3 or number four position and use Ashwin as a finisher at the number 7 or number 8 position. In a current match like this that would be an instance where Ashwin consumers 30 balls and scores 20 all runs which will harm RR.

Sanju Samson should use Trent Boult carefully as bowling out his three overs before 10 overs which means that the death overs are a concern. RR should use at least 2 hours of Ashwin in the powerplay overs as the pitch of Kolkata offers a lot of turn for the spin bowlers. Ashwin has the experience of not only taking wickets but containing the batters which are utmost required in the T20 format.

The role of Shimron Hetmyer becomes extremely critical here as his job is just to go bang bang from ball number 1. If he scores a cameo of 30 order runs in 10 balls just like Tim David then the game is done for Rajasthan Royals. All in all, RR has got everything to succeed and till now and everything depends on the match day and execution.

  • LSG

Mr. Sanjeev Goenka Owner of LSG once again was powerful in the league phase. They won 9 matches out of 14 and missed out on a whisker on the top two finish. The top two teams get two chances at the final which is quite priceless. Their matches would be at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad which means that a new venue and new dimensions of the field will make life harder for the team.

Just like Rajasthan Royals, LSG was a one-man show as they were dependent on KL Rahul. He amassed more than 500 runs and made a statement to the National Cricket Team and selectors that he cannot be ignored and neglected for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia this October November 2022. Due to the Reliance on KL Rahul, the rest of the betters were that much more consistent. In the second stage of the tournament legs, middle order batteries like Kunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and the rest of the batters showed a lot of fight in some form, and recently against KKR Quinton scored 140 runs in 70 balls.

In the bowling department, the rise of Mohsin Khan has been tremendous as the laptop fast bowler has been using all the tricks in the book to fox the batter. The likes of Avesh Khan and Chameera are bowling spellbound spells. All in all, LSG is a team that can create havoc in the playoffs.

  • Strengths of LSG

The experience of the head coach and the flower is proving to be invaluable as he has been in this coaching arena for a decade. The Duo of KL Rahul and Andy Flower have been in touch for the last 3 to 4 years where both have a good bonding and no what a team requires to do. To add to that coaching staff Gautam Gambhir has been doing an excellent job being the Mentor.

  • Weakness of LSG

LSG bowlers have defended a small target of around 130- 140 runs which can be a concern as the pitches of Ahmedabad can be uneven as well as a run fest too. The likes of Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda have to make sure that they’re sticking to the crease which is not an easy job. All in all, LSG is going to play a knockout match against RCB and a loss would end their journey which was so much good and proper.

  • Strategies to Succeed

LSG’s top order is very threatening as they have got De Kock, Rahul, and Marcus Stoinis. They should use Stoinis s at Number 3 or number for position as in the BBL he opens the batting for his franchise BBL team. If he is batting at Number 6 or 7 position or below that then he is not able to get enough balls and request at least 4 to 5 balls before going bang bang. LSG knows that the match against RCB is a knockout one so they have to make sure that Stoinis and Holder are not batting at No.7 or 8

The mentor Gautam Gambhir is roll has been very much critical as he has been seen doing a lot of prep talk and he knows how to win an IPL tournament like he won IPL Tournament in 2012 and 2014. It would be interesting to see how things unfold as they have got the batters and bowlers present who can create some sort of magic on the given day. The role of Avesh Khan becomes very important here as his yorkers and cunning deliveries can bamboozle the opponent

LSG need to make sure that they don’t get complacent here as a couple of bad overs can change the match for them. The use of Krunal Pandya is also important because his 4 overs can be very damaging as he is not a spinner who is termed the ball he balls according to the line and length. He has the knack of picking up crucial wickets and bowling like he will bowl  2 to 3 runs over which will change the momentum of the match. LIC will only be concerned that they don’t get a bad start if they lose 2 to 3 wickets in the power play overs then it becomes very much difficult for the lower order batters to put a good score on the board

  • RCB

The entire RCB community was dependent on MI vs DC clash where MI had to win for RCB to qualify for the players. MI fulfilled the wish of RCB fans. RCB’s new Skipper Faf had a terrific season with the bat as he was on the list of most runs scored this season.

Everyone neglected the rise of Faf who currently doesn’t play for the national team in South Africa as the attention was on Virat Kohli’s poor form very scored only two half centuries and three ducks. RCB founder new finisher in the form of Dinesh Kartik who made a statement that he still has the passion and vigor to play for the National Cricket Team. He currently has got a call up to the national team for the upcoming T20 International series against South Africa.

For the first time in this season, the likes of Rajat Patidar Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik all scored runs in the absence of Virat Kohli’s form. It made a statement that RCB is no longer dependent on Virat Kohli’s performance. Against such, they got bundle loud for 60 odd runs and it looks like the wake-up call is near the corner. Faf was marshaling his troops to his best and made sure that the likes of Siraj and his Hazlewood are used in crunch situations of the match.

  • Strengths of RCB

They have got good fast bowlers present in the form of Harshal Patel, Hazelwood, and Siraj which means that unlike previous seasons this time their bowling has been their arsenal. Against CSK their bowling line-up defended 65 runs in 6 hours whereas CSK ‘s finishers were present at the dugout. This is a clear indication that RCB is no longer a powerful batting team that works for them as their Weakness has become their strength.

  • Weakness of RCB

RCB’s weakness is Virat Kohli though he may have found his form still there are concerns. They are due to face LSG in Ahmedabad where that match is a knockout punch where RCB can’t afford any hiccups. The entire cricket fraternity nose that Virat Kohli has gone through a lot of rough patches which means that he wants to prove himself and make a resounding comeback by scoring a daddy hundred.

  • Strategies to Succeed

RCB knows that Virat is back into the form and would hope that he sticks to the grace and scores around 50 to 60 runs while opening the innings. Faf needs to anchor the innings and bat as much as deep he can because he has the X factor of changing the match in a couple of overs. Rajat Patidar should continue to place a natural game of attacking the battles irrespective of how good the bowler is.

The likes of Hazlewood and Siraj have to make sure that they are not licking runs in the power play overs as Siraj has the habit of going a bit wayward. Hazelwood has been awesome with the ball in hand as he has single-handedly won the match for RCB in tough situations. Reports are stating that Harshal Patel could be a permanent member of team India in the upcoming T20 world cup in Australia as his cutters and lake cutters are proving to be too hard for the batters. He knows that last year KKR had deep thrown RCB out of the tournament and he would like to win the tournament for RCB this year.

The role of Shahbaz Ahmed and Hasaranga is vital because Hasaranga is an allrounder who can bat at number 7 or number it positions comes me off from 20 to 30 runs can be crucial. RCB need to make sure that they are not chasing a big target of around 18200 runs as one collapse of on 2 to 3 wickets is enough to drag them down. All in all RCB steam looks slightly better than the last year and now they have got an experienced campaigner present in the form of Faf who has the experience of taking the team over the finish line.

  • Predicted Winner

Rajasthan Royals look all-set to be crowned the Champions of Tata IPL 2022 under the leadership of Samson and Sangakkara. They would most likely face GT and there would be an epic encounter on hands. It would be interesting who wins Qualifier 1 as that winner will have an extra advantage. In the end, everything depends on Match Day.

Puissant South Africa Demolished India’s Prowess

South Africa broke their shackles to defeat the Gigantic India. TEST Series as of now is squared by 1-1, with the final one scheduled on 11th January at Cape Town. There was elation even in closed doors as South Africa proved a point that they are not a finished product. India on the other-side looked humdrum as defeating 240 runs wasn’t a tough task given the affluence India has in pace department. The Test Match got wrapped up on 4th day itself; which ICC would be keeping an eye on it as earlier in 2020 there have been talks of making a “Test Match” a 4-day affair.

SNAPSHOT: Skipper Dean Elgar & Temba Bavuma delighted after winning 2nd Test Match.

South Africa’s chase started on 3rd Day and they were quite cautious in their approach. The openers Dean Elgar & Aiden Markram didn’t allow the quartet: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Shardul Thakur & Moahammed Siraj to settle; as both the openers rotated the strike on a consistent basis & were ready to pounce on an opportunity. The opening partnership was of 47 runs in 10 overs. Aiden Markram the dashing batter was in full form as he played a cameo of 31 runs in 38 balls.

The man with the “Golden Arm” Shardul Thakur perturbed every batter through his cunning variations. The stand-in/ temporary captain K.L. Rahul used fiery tactics alike the “Youth Sensation” Virat Kohli, who was out of the Test Match due to lower back spasms. At the end of Day 3 Proteas scored almost half of the runs with 8 wickets in tank. In an attempt of experimentation Rahul lost the plot as giving easy singles & a regulation boundary made the job half done.

On Day 4 two sessions were wiped out due to inclement weather. Evening session finally had the last laugh & match resumed. Rahul’s captaincy didn’t yield results as on one side the skipper “Dean Elgar” was solid in defense, he literally took blows on his body & helmet. Elgar’s survival mode was so productive as he made the bowlers bowl to his strengths. Elgar would rue the fact that he missed out on the century (96 runs in 188 balls), yet he would be booming with confidence as Proteas still have their fortress under control. (* India hasn’t won a Test Series since South Africa’s readmission) Elgar got ample support from Rassie van der Dussen who was playing shots irrespective of getting outputs. There was a fear factor present in the form of Rassie. Rassie managed to score 40 runs in 92 balls, his partnership with Elgar proved to be decisive as both were involved in 82 runs partnership.

SNAPSHOT: Rassie van der Dussen playing cover drive with absolute sheer brilliance.

Elgar & “White Ball Skipper” Temba wrapped up the match & won the Test Match by 7 wickets.

SNAPSHOT: Dean Elgar waiving his bat after completing 50 runs.
SNAPSHOT: Temba Bavuma playing a shot elegantly & playing a role in the triumph

Team members of India were blissfully annoyed as they tried every trick yet Proteas didn’t succumb to the white noise. Last 6 months for Rahul has been a roller-coaster ride as in June he wasn’t a part of playing 11 & now he captained Test team & going to captain ODI Format. India should have gone for the lethal brand of bowling as losing by 7 wickets is a bit tough pill to swallow. There is some sort of uncertainty regarding Virat’s participation & if he isn’t fit then South Africa would be thrilled as Virat on his day can decimate the opponent through bat & captaincy.

SNAPSHOT: K.L. Rahul & Dean Elgar playing the game in right spirit.

India had won the toss & elected to bat first. The veteran batters Cheteshwar Pujara & Ajinkya Rahane once again failed to trouble the scorers as they were dismissed for a single digit. The skipper K.L. Rahul has now made a habit of taking burden on his shoulders as he scored a half century a (133 balls) on a spicy wicket. Ravichandran Ashwin the crafty spinner formed partnership with the “unorthodox” Hanuma Vihari & posted a decent yet challenging total of 202 runs. Ashwin played a quick-fire knock of 46 runs.

Marco Jansen the tyro fast bowler took 4 big scalps & was seen having a banter/sledging with the “Yorker Sensation” Jasprit Bumrah. Duanne Olivier played a critical role by sending Pujara & Rahane in quick succession as his presence was too hot to handle for batters.

SNAPSHOT: Marco Jansen & Jasprit Bumrah were seen a spat so much that Umpire had to intervene.

The entire bowling department of South Africa hunted in a pack which is must to succeed. India had a short burst with the ball as they were bundled out in 63.1 overs. Shami got rid off Markram quickly & later India’s bowlers tightened up the screws as Proteas managed 35 runs in 18 balls.

On Day 2 South Africa were scoring runs easily & looked as if they would get a size-able lead. Just before half an hour away from Lunch, Rahul gave the ball to Shardul Thakur. Absolutely from nowhere Thakur priced out the skipper Elgar (28 runs in 120 balls) & got rid of the well settled batter Keegan Petersen (62 runs in 118 balls) & eked out 3 wickets in his 5 over spell. He triggered 3 wickets & created panic in South Africa’s camp.

SNAPSHOT: Shardul Thakur got mesmerized after dismissing Aiden Markram.

After the lunch break of Day 2 Temba Bavuma took the team out of the muddle by notching up a half century in 60 balls. His dismissal paved the way for India as the score was 177-6 wickets. The tail-enders somehow grabbed a lead of 27 runs. This time Shardul Thakur accomplished the job of wrapping up the batters & tail-enders as he took his career best of 7-61 in 17.5 overs. Thakur proved to be a Trump & Wild Card as his spell changed the dynamics of the Game.

In response to 27 runs lead South Africa got rid of the “Big Fishes” Mayank Agarawal & K.L. Rahul. Marco Jansen who had a small stint via Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021 (MI) made the most of his experience. Rahane & Pujara resurrected the innings by rotating the strike & a typical boundary. At the end of Day 2 India’s lead was 58 runs with 8 wickets remaining. The Coach Mark Boucher was worried as he knew the momentum shifted very quickly.

On Day 3 Rahane & Pujara fretted bowlers. It was entertaining to see how Pujara was in attacking mode. During Drinks break India ‘s lead was 124 runs. It looked as if South Africa gifted the match, then Kagiso Rabada the speedster eliminated Pujara & Rahane by bowling peach deliveries. Within a blink of eye Rabada changed the course of the match.

SNAPSHOT: Cheteshwar Pujara & Ajinkya Rahane gave a glimpse of historic partnerships.

Rishabh Pant came in & then Rabada enticed Rishabh. Within 3 deliveries Pant threw his wicket & made sure that Proteas are in full control. Lead at that time was 140 runs with 5 wickets left.

SNAPSHOT: Rishabh Pant looks dejected as the sledging/ banter proved to be too hot.

Hanuma Vihari stood tall from one end & made sure that India posted a competitive target of 240 runs. South Africa’s quartet was slaying like anything as there was no respite. Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen & Kagiso Rabada all of these 3 took three wickets each.

SNAPSHOT:  Hanuma Vihari playing a cover drive shot & resurrecting the inning.
SNAPSHOT: Kagiso Rabada is pumped up after breaking the back of India’s batting lineup.

With the series being squared by 1-1. The contest at Cape-town would be grueling as South Africa have made a comeback from nowhere. Mark Boucher the Head Coach would be pumped up whereas Rahul Dravid the Head Coach knows that the loop-holes have been exposed.

In 2006-07 South Africa vs India Test Series, Rahul Dravid was the captain of India & Mark Boucher was the wicket-keeper of South Africa. South Africa had levelled the Series by winning in Durban & co-incidentally the 3rd Test Match is going to be played at Cape-town only. Given the history India would be hoping that the fortunes would change as in 2006-07 South Africa had thrashed India convincingly.

India wants the Batter Virat Kohli, as he is under a lot of pressure regarding off-field issues. Unfortunately, if Virat isn’t fit then there should be absolute role clarity as players need to acclimatize themselves to the situation. The blunder of Rishabh Pant is an example, if he would have batted responsibly then the result might have been different, putting entire blame on him is not right, but it is often said “Wicket-keeper is the heart of the team”. India has got everything to excel, unfortunately on the given day match is played on field not on paper.

South Africa would be in shock as in this Test Match they were without Quinton de Kock as he quitted Test Cricket to focus on White ball. Quinton was a huge blow as his acrobatic glove-work & furious batting was a major skill. Even in his absence South Africa gave a Reality Check to India.

On the current performances India looks unlikely to win as South Africa look ominous.

New Zealand fretted India & took the gas out of India

New Zealand did an improbable effort to draw the 1st Test Match against India at Kanpur. The pitch of Kanpur was uneven where the batters had a strenuous task on their head. New Zealand started off their defense of ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23.

India had a golden opportunity to stamp their authority. A target of 284 runs was literally impossible to chase down for Kiwis. The pitch was treacherous as the pitch was no less than a minefield yet a sporting wicket. Overnight on the 4th day of the Test Match India had got rid of Will Young.

Tom Latham & the night-watchman Will Somerville were cautious in the 1st Session. They both went unscathed into the lunch break. New Zealand required 205 runs in last 2 sessions which was a daunting & an unrealistic equation to attain. Rahane tried every trick in the book but New Zealand’s resilience was remarkable.

On the very first ball Umesh Yadav sent Somerville back to pavilion by bowling a pre-planned short ball. All of a sudden India sensed that they are in this. Somerville played an innings full of character by consuming 110 balls & scored 36 runs. Kane Williamson & Tom Latham made it clear that they need to see of the first half an hour. The Runs were hard to come as the ball was keeping eye-bogglingly low.

Tom Latham displayed complete mental application by notching up a half century of 52 runs in 146 balls. He was solid as rock but a little lapse of concentration paved the way for India. Ashwin has made a habit of dismissing Tom Latham in India as he has been his victim 6 times out of 8. Just at the brink of Tea New Zealand got another heart-attack as Ravindra Jadeja trapped Ross Taylor. The chance of a New Zealand win was out of the context as scoring 5 runs per over is quite not possible.

New Zealand had 6 wickets in hand & more than 30 overs were left. Rahane’s captaincy was spot on as he didn’t waste any time. Jadeja & Axar demolished New Zealand’s batting line up as their recognized batters were back at the hut. New Zealand had to play out a minimum 25 overs. It looked like the end is near as India’s spinners were ruthless.

Tom Blundell, Rachin Ravindra, Kyle Jamieson, Ajaz Patel & Tim Southee played out of their skin. The defense was at the peak as every bowler was helpless. Ashwin & Jadeja the current two stalwarts of India’s spin bowling had a nerve-wrecking day. Jadeja was lethal with the ball as he took 4 wickets.

The 10th wicket-partnership between Ajaz Patel & Rachin Ravindra was a treat to watch. Both the batters showed immense courage to block the ball. New Zealand somehow avoided their ship to sink. At 98 overs New Zealand scored 165-9 runs. Due to the bad light the match was stopped, the full quota of 90 overs on the 5th day was attained.

New Zealand pulled out a heist as a draw is as equal to a victory. India would be banging their heads as they failed to seize the moment. New Zealand would be smirking as once again they thrashed a billion people’s dreams in ICC Fixtures.

New Zealand & India both the teams got 6 points for the Test Match. India have got themselves to blame as 90+ overs are adequate to run out the opposition. The 2nd Test Match is at Mumbai where we can expect a similar turner pitch.

Virat Kohli is going to resume his captaincy duties. The conundrum for Rahul Dravid is that who sits out as Shreyas Iyer has had a dream debut by notching a century & a half century. Rahane & Pujara are off-colors & at the twilight of their career as dropping one of them would literally mean that their career is over.

Virat Kohli & Rahul Dravid would look to rectify their mistakes & avoid an ignominy as India is not performing according to their credentials. The only way India can demolish New Zealand is by scoring gigantic 1st inning score of 400+ runs irrespective of batting 1st or 2nd.

It seems likely that New Zealand would once again bury India alive. The way Black Caps have saved the Test Match augurs their preparation which may be short yet powerful. There are some loopholes regarding their batting collapses which quickly needs a turnaround.  New Zealand’s last Test Series victory came in 1964-65, New Zealand had won the series by 1-0 (4 Test Match Series). It has been 57 years since New Zealand have tasted success in India which is like ages. The pace duo of Southee & Jamieson holds the key as both of them have express speed. New Zealand experimented with 3 spinners which wasn’t as fruitful as compared to India.

India hasn’t lost a single TEST Series in India since 2012; England had defeated India by 2-1. This record is in danger as India looks a bruised side whose traces are visible given their recent failures at ICC Events.

New Zealand Gatecrashed India’s T20 World Cup Journey

New Zealand razed India by chasing 111 runs in 14.3 overs by 8 wickets. The match was played at the Dubai International Stadium on 31st October. New Zealand were absolutely brutal with ball & bat as their NRR (Net Run Rate) has peaked and it is +0.765. India now is almost out of the tournament as their fate is in another’s hand (*Afghanistan needs to defeat New Zealand). But first they need to win with huge margin against Afghanistan, Namibia & Scotland. The NRR of India is -1.609 which has put them on the brink of elimination.

New Zealand had won the toss & elected to bowl. India made some serious & controversial changes to their playing 11. They picked Ishan Kishan & Shardul Thakur in place of Suryakumar Yadav & Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Suryakumar was injured. India took a bold decision by opening with Ishan & Rahul. Rohit Sharma was dropped by Adam Milne on 0 on the bowling of Trent Boult. India once again got jolted in the power-play overs. India lost 3 wickets for 35 runs. Rahul & Kishan were pressurized by the immaculate setup of Kiwi’s bowlers.

India didn’t score a single boundary for a span of 70 balls (5.2 to 16.5 overs). The likes of Rishabh Pant & Hardik Pandya were playing too casually as they didn’t take any risks. Somehow in the end Ravindra Jadeja salvaged some pride by putting a score of 110 runs by scoring 26 runs in 19 balls.

The batting scores of India’s batters:

  • KL Rahul scored 18 runs in 16 balls
  • Rohit Sharma scored 14 runs in 14 balls
  • Virat Kohli scored 9 runs in 17 balls
  • Rishabh Pant scored 12 runs in 19 balls

There was no intent from batters as the passion was seen missing. 8 fours & 2 sixes were hit which is not acceptable at ICC Tournament.

New Zealand’s every bowler exploited the fear. Trent Boult mesmerized via his swing as he took 3 wickets for 20 runs. Ish Sodhi eliminated Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma the two cannons. It as if looked like New Zealand were playing against a weaker team.

In response to the target of 111 runs New Zealand scored 44 runs for the loss of 1 wicket of Guptill. The unexpected match winner for New Zealand with the bat was Daryl Mitchell as he scored 49 runs in 35 balls. In his knock he smashed 4 fours & 3 sixes. Daryl would rue the that he missed out on a deserving half-century. As calm as ice the skipper Kane Williamson carried out the finishing duties as he scored 33 runs in 31 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah was the only bowler who took all the wickets & was economical. The management & skipper Virat Kohli needs to exhibit the team’s performance rather than boasting. Once again, he trusted Varun Chakravarthy instead of Ravichandran Ashwin. There are some serious problems in selection as the openers were changed & most importantly whole-sale changes have become a trend.

India needs to have some serious talks & conversations. The brand of Cricket which they are playing can get them completely eliminated by playing against Afghanistan on 3rd November at Abu Dhabi. The change of venue can change the fortune which the entire billion people would hope of.

New Zealand would be high on confidence as they throwed India out of contention. New Zealand are due to play Scotland & Namibia which would be relatively easier compared to Pakistan & India. New Zealand should be ready for an uphill task as defeating Afghanistan won’t be easy. New Zealand & Afghanistan are alike to each other which will make an even contest on 07th November at Abu Dhabi.

India & New Zealand face off in a Virtual Knock-out Punch as the Race for Semi-Finals gets tightened up

Overview

India & New Zealand are due to face each other on the 31st of October at Dubai International Stadium. Both the teams were handed humiliating & heart-breaking defeats by the ‘Mercurial & Unpredictable’ Pakistan. Virat Kohli & Kane Williamson would avoid the embarrassment by winning; especially India who would like to break the hoodoo of 14-year drought period without an ICC T20 World Cup Trophy.

New Zealand has had the wood over India in ICC T20 World Cups as both the teams have been clashed 2 times:

  • 1st instance was at the inaugural T20 World Cup 2007 where the hosts where South Africa. New Zealand overcame India by winning the match by 10 runs as a gigantic target of 191 runs was a bit too much at that period of time. The multi-star-studded batting line up which consisted of (*former batters) Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir tried but pressure got better of them as New Zealand’s bowlers were throwing unexpected surprises as the damage was done by the former left arm off spinner Daniel Vettori who had taken 4 wickets.
  • 2nd instance was in the last edition of ICC T20 World Cup 2016 at India. New Zealand had annihilated India by winning the match by 47 runs as New Zealand had bowled out India for 79 runs given the target of 127 runs. It was a shocking loss for India as Kiwi’s spinners had duped India batsmen who are known to be very good spin batters as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli & Co was left stunned & flabbergasted by the immaculateness of Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi(** currently both of the spinners are in the playing 11) & Nathan McCullum(*former) who took 7 wickets amongst themselves.

In the recent times India has settled the record with New Zealand as in 2020 there was a bilateral 5 T20I Match Series in New Zealand in which India had whitewashed Kiwis. The overall record of India-New Zealand T20I matches stands at 6-8 out of 16 matches (* 2 matches were abandoned due to rain).

  • India

For India this is literally a do-or-die match as already their NRR (Net Run Rate) is -0.973. India’s conundrum of tackling swing bowling had got exposed as India had lost 3 wickets in power-play overs. The annoying problem for India is that Hardik Pandya isn’t 100 % match fit to play as an all-rounder as playing 5 bowlers isn’t a feasible option. Suryakumar Yadav who got drafted into playing 11 needs to play according to the situation as every time going for boundaries that too in crisis period isn’t a favourable option.

This is the first & last T20 World Cup for Virat Kohli as the Captain of Team India as earlier (before the start of the second leg of Vivo IPL 2021) he had announced his decision. Virat Kohli undoubtedly is one of the finest & greatest batters in the history of T20I Cricket as in the 1st match, he had showcased his prowess by scoring a fighting half century of 57 runs against Pakistan when the team was in a deep muddle. As of now India needs Virat the Leader who trusts his team players & most importantly makes sensible & practical decisions as picking Varun Chakravarthy over Ravichandran Ashwin is a blunder given the wealth of experience & skill Ashwin possesses.

India may tinker with the bowling combination as all the three pacers: Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Jasprit Bumrah weren’t that much effective & productive. Shardul Thakur can come in as a replacement for any one of the pacers or for Hardik Pandya as he is a pinch-hitter too who can be handy in tense situation. One of KL Rahul & Rohit Sharma have to take responsibility of batting at-least till the 10th over as their presence keeps the opponent frightened.

  • New Zealand

New Zealand would rue the fact that they lost against Pakistan as at one situation they were in a commanding position & bossing the game. New Zealand’s NRR is not far behind from India as it stands at -0.532. New Zealand’s middle order is a bit fragile as the skipper Kane Williamson has to try & bat through the entire quota of 20 overs. James Neesham’s batting position needs to get sorted as he has batted as a finisher at No.6 or 7 throughout his career.

New Zealand astonishingly opened with the all-rounder Daryl Mitchell who had a decent outing as he scored a quick fire 27 runs in 20 balls but in doing so Tim Seifert the swashbuckling batter batted at No.7 position which affected the innings at the back end as Seifert wasn’t clearing the rope.

Before the start of their opening match against Pakistan; New Zealand were halted by the calf injury of the speedster Lockie Ferguson which ruled him out of the tournament. Lockie’s absence would hurt as he is one of the best amongst the crop of  Kiwis & World Cricket at death overs; while on the other side the gates have been opened for Adam Milne (*reserve player) who somewhat has shades of the former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond who coincidentally is New Zealand’s fast bowling consultant. New Zealand are high on pace bowlers as they have the lanky Kyle Jamieson & the duo of Tim Southee-Trent Boult as these pacers are intimidating regardless of the pitch.

  • Pitch & Conditions

Dubai’s pitch is expected to be a run feast as the teams should target a score around 160-180 runs & even more as dew can be a decisive factor.

  • Keys to succeed in India vs New Zealand match

India’s strength is their power-packed batting line up; if they win the toss they should opt to bat irrespective of the conditions as New Zealand’s batting is topsy-turvy & scratchy.

New Zealand’s USP is their bowling as their bowling line up has got ingredients to suppress the opponent; but for that to happen the batters need to put a formidable total of 150-160 runs as 130 odd runs won’t win too many matches.

  • India is known to produce staggering performances to raise against the circumstances & would believe that the hopes of a billion people aren’t diminished.
  • New Zealand team’s idiosyncrasy is that they play like a team where they aren’t dependent on a single individual as they subsequently find multiple match winners on the given day.

It would be fascinating to see as which team’s journey would be stroked as both the teams are due to face Afghanistan, Scotland & Namibia where most likely they won’t have their fate in their hands. India have made it to the Semi Finals 3 times out of 6 (* 2007, 2014 & 2016) whereas New Zealand’s ratio is 2 times out of 6 (* 2007 & 2016).
