ICC (International Cricket Council) started ICC ODI World Cup in 1975 at the Mecca of Cricket i.e. England (London) and until now 12 World Cups have been played at different locations.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1975
The inaugural World Cup was played entirely in England with 60 overs per side. This World Cup was played in white color uniform. A total of 8 teams played. England and West Indies were playing neck to neck as there was cut-throat competition between these two teams. New Zealand proved to be the dark horse of this World Cup but they failed to win the Cup. India, Pakistan, East Africa (now South Africa) & Sri Lanka were slowly getting into the game of Cricket but lacked consistency & skill to make it to the final four. West Indies was just dominating each and every opposition as a result they were Crowned the World Champions of Cricket. The 1975 Cricket World Cup gave a hint of something huge and spectacular in the Cricketing World.
Captain Clive Lloyd with the World Cup
Glenn Turner of New Zealand amassed 333 runs and was the leading run scorer of the tournament. Dennis Amiss of England scored 243 runs. Majid Khan of Pakistan scored 209 runs whereas Keith Fletcher of England made vital contribution of 207 runs. Gary Gilmour of Australia took 11 Wickets and was the leading wicket taker of the tournament. Bernard Julien and Keith Boyce of West Indies both the bowlers took 10 wickets each while Andy Roberts of West Indies took 8 wickets. The entire batting and bowling unit of West Indies showed immense grit and displayed team work while clinching the first ever World Cup for West Indies.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1979
The 2nd ICC Cricket World Cup too was played in England with same rules as of 1st World Cup. In this World Cup Pakistan came in as a Surprise package who made it to the knock-out stage where everyone was amazed and shocked. At the same time West Indies continued their dominance as they were Crowned World Champions for a consecutive second time.
Captain Clive Lloyd with the World Cup
Gordon Greenidge of West Indies was the leading run scorer of the tournament with 253 runs; and he was well accompanied by Sir Viv Richards who scored 217 runs. Graham Gooch of England scored 210 runs while Glenn Turner who was the leading run scorer in 1975 World Cup had a lean patch as he scored a mere 176 runs. Mike Hendrick of England was the leading wicket-taker with 10 Wickets. Chris Old of England, Brian McKechnie of New Zealand & Asif Iqbal all these three bowlers took 9 wickets each. The second victory for West Indies just gave an indication that the era of West Indies dominance started.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1983
The 3rd ICC Cricket World Cup was also played in England. In this World Cup India astonished everyone by making it to the play-offs. India outplayed Zimbabwe in Group Stages. Australia was the consistent team but this time failed to make it to the knock-out stage as India and West Indies didn’t gave them an inch in this World Cup. It looked like once again that West Indies will clinch the Cup and make a hattrick of winning World Cups but the belligerent India diminished & thrashed West Indies and won the World Cup for the very first time. The main architect of India proved to be the fighting spirit and a never to say die attitude amongst the entire Squad as India came in to the World Cup as an underdog.
Captain KApil Dev with the World Cup
David Gower of England was the leading run scorer of the tournament with 384 runs. Sir Viv Richards of West Indies scored 367 runs while Graeme Fowler of England scored 360 runs. Zaheer Abbas of Pakistan scored 313 runs. Roger Binny of India was the leading wicket-taker of India with 18 wickets while Madan Lal of India took 17 wickets. Ashantha de Mel of Sri Lanka took 17 wickets and Richard Hadlee of New Zealand took 14 scalps.
The victory of 1983 Cricket World Cup proved to be pivotal for India as the citizens of India got to know the game of Cricket more deeply.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1987
The 4th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup was played in India with 50 overs per side instead of 60 overs. This time Australia was playing more aggressively as compared to the first 3 editions of World Cup. For the first time West Indies failed to make it to the knock-out stages as they failed to adjust to the fluctuating conditions of India. In this World Cup Australia displayed more passion for the game as the matches in this World Cup were more competitive as earlier tournaments. India & Pakistan were favorites to win the World Cup but Australia won the small, defining & key moments as a result Australia defeated England in the Final of World Cup by only 7 runs. Australia made a statement that how to win the World Cup and most importantly they showed the power of team work and self-belief
Captain Allan Border with the World Cup
Graham Gooch of England was the leading run scorer of the tournament with 471 runs. David Boon of Australia scored 447 runs and he was well accompanied by Geoff Marsh with 428 runs. Sir Viv Richards scored 391 runs. Craig McDermott of Australia took 18 wickets. Imran Khan of Pakistan took 17 wickets. Maninder Singh of India & Patrick Patterson of West Indies both the bowlers took 14 wickets each. The 1987 victory of Australia proved to be life changing for Australian Cricket as they got the technique of winning a World Cup.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1992
The 5th edition of the World Cup observed round-robin format where each team will play with everyone in the group stage itself and it was held in Australia & New Zealand. This World Cup also observed color jersey for every team (nation). Pakistan from nowhere made it to the knock-out stage due to the format which gave every team a chance. India had the team to make it to the knock-out stage but failed to deliver it in the crunch situations of the game. England had the best chance of winning the World Cup this time but they lost it and Pakistan were crowned the World Champions where they stunned everyone through their unpredictable performances. The triumph of Pakistan is a story of an underdog as no one expected them to Win the World Cup but that’s the nature & style of Pakistan Cricket Team. The downfall of West Indies Cricket Team was seen as they weren’t putting a fighting performance on the match day.
Captain Imran Khan after Winning the World Cup
Martin Crowe of New Zealand was the leading run scorer of the tournament with 456 runs. Javed Miandad of Pakistan scored 437 runs while Peter Kirsten of South Africa scored 410 runs. David Boon of Australia scored 368 runs. Wasim Akram of Pakistan took 18 wickets while Sir Ian Botham of England took 16 wickets. Mushtaq Ahmed of Pakistan and Chris Harris of New Zealand both the bowlers took 16 Wickets each. The story of 1992 World Cup was so enthralling that from out of the box the Cricketing World saw a new Roaring Champion in the form of Pakistan.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1996
The 6th edition of the World Cup was held in India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka. This time West Indies made it to the Knock-out stages of the World Cup. Sri Lanka this time proved to be red hot favorites. Sri Lanka demolished India’s hopes of A World Cup triumph by winning the Semi Final by a default manner where the Stadium was furious. Australia once again proved that there is no substitute for Hard Work as they were winning matches convincingly but they failed at the last hurdle against Sri Lanka in the final. Sri Lanka astounded everyone as every four years a new Champion was Born and made.
Captain Arjun Ranatunga with the World Cup
Sachin Tendulkar of India who is known to be as the GOD of Cricket was the leading run scorer in the tournament with 523 runs. Mark Waugh of Australia scored 484 runs. Arvinda de Silva of Sri Lanka scored 448 runs while Gary Kirsten scored 391 runs. Anil Kumble of India was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 15 wickets. Waqar Younis of Pakistan took 13 wickets. Roger Harper & Shane Warne both the bowlers took 12 wickets each.
ICC Cricket World Cup 1999
The 7th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was held at the Mecca of Cricket i.e. England. This World Cup was the start of an Era of Dominance for Australia. In the Semi Final Match of the World Cup South Africa vs Australia both the teams scored same runs but Aussies advanced to the Finals as they finished top in the group table. There was a lot of chaos in that match. India once again failed to live up to their expectations. Australia won the World Cup in grand style and that too in a convincing manner against the unpredictable Pakistan Team.
Captain Steve Waugh with the World Cup
Rahul Dravid of India was the top run scorer in the tournament with 461 runs. Steve Waugh of Australia scored 398 runs and he was well accompanied by his brother Mark Waugh who scored 375 runs. Sourav Ganguly of India scored 379 runs. Australia started to become one of the tough teams to beat in World Cup from 1999.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2003
The 8th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was held in South Africa & Zimbabwe. This World Cup was filled with huge runs scored by batsmen and the same was with bowlers who were immaculate with their line and lengths. South Africa had got the team to win a Title but they couldn’t make it to the knock-out stages. This time it looked India would definitely win World Cup but they were foxed & tricked by Australia in Finals as Australia won the World Cup. Australia won the World Cup because Australia’s each and every player scored a match winning knock when the team was in serious trouble which separated their team from everyone. Australia became the second team to win back to back ODI (One Day International) World Cups as earlier in 1975 & 1979 West Indies had won the World Cup.
Captain Ricky Ponting with the World Cup
Sachin Tendulkar of India was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 673 runs. Sourav Ganguly of India scored 465 runs. Ricky Ponting of Australia scored 415 runs while he was well accompanied by Adam Gilchrist who scored 408 runs. Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 23 wickets. Brett Lee of Australia and Glenn McGrath of Australia both the bowlers were bang on target as Lee took 22 wickets whereas McGrath took 21 wickets. Zaheer Khan of India took 18 wickets. Australia started to look very dangerous from the starting of the World Cup as they left no stone untouched.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2007
The 9th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was held in West Indies. This World Cup saw two Champion Teams India & Pakistan eliminated in the first round itself as Bangladesh defeated India & Ireland defeated Pakistan. In the Super Eight Stage Australia was just literally bashing the opponent like a Champion Team. There were a lot of expectations from West Indies as they were playing in their own backyard but they couldn’t deliver performances of a Champion Team. Sri Lanka showed some fight and character but at the final junction Australia outplayed Sri Lanka. Australia won the World Cup and made a hattrick of winning World Cups which is a rare and unbelievable attainment.
Captain Ricky Ponting with the World Cup
Matthew Hayden of Australia was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 659 runs. Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka scored 548 runs. Ricky Ponting of Australia scored 539 runs whereas Scott Styris of New Zealand scored 499 runs. Glenn McGrath of Australia was the leading wicket taker with 26 wickets. Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka and Shaun Tait of Australia both the bowlers took 23 wickets each. Brad Hogg of Australia took 21 wickets. Ricky Ponting the skipper of Australian Cricket Team became the only Cricketer to be a part of 3 World Cup Winning Squads. Australia’s Squad and playing 11 was one of the Best which made them Champions of the Cricket.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2011
The 10th Edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was held in India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. This World Cup was blatantly dominated by India as India was not giving an inch to the opponent team. Australia’s team was under a lot of pressure through-out the tournament as their team was in a reconstruction phase as some of their Senior players were retired. Australia failed to win the World Cup for a consecutive 4th time as their journey was ended by Team India in Quarter-Finals. India also had to face tough times in the Tournament as there was cut-throat competition but India won the World Cup in a grand fashion and brought huge smiles on the faces of people as India won the World Cup after a drought span of 28 years.
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni with the World Cup
Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka was the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 500 runs. Sachin Tendulkar of India scored 482 runs. Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka scored 465 runs. Jonathan Trott of England scored 422 runs. Shahid Afridi of Pakistan & Zaheer Khan of India both the bowlers took 21 wickets each. Tim Southee of New Zealand took 18 wickets whereas Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka took 15 wickets. India won the World Cup as it was seen that India developed a fighting spirit and most importantly India’s players played like a Team.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
The 11th Edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was held in Australia & New Zealand. In this World Cup the teams were most competitive as there was nothing separating the teams from each other. Australia were back with all their players who were juvenile and somewhat experienced too. West Indies made it to the knock-out stages but once again failed to make the World Cup special for them. Team India was in red hot form but they lost their plot in the Semi Final against Australia where Australia thrashed them. Australia had a one sided Final against the Mighty New Zealand Team where they not only ruined New Zealand but they made a statement that the Champions of the Cricket are Back. South Africa had a Heart- Breaking moment as all the team members were in tears after losing Semi Finals against New Zealand.
Captain Michael Clarke with the World Cup
Martin Guptill of New Zealand was the leading run scorer of the tournament with 547 runs. Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka scored 541 runs. AB de Villiers of South Africa scored 482 runs. Brendan Taylor of Zimbabwe scored 433 runs. Mitchell Starc & Trent Boult both the bowlers took 22 Wickets each. Umesh Yadav of India took 18 wickets. Mohammed Shami of India, Morne Morkel of South Africa & Jerome Taylor of West Indies all these 3 bowlers took 17 wickets each. Australia was considered a Dark horse for this Tournament but they showed their class and won the World Cup for a Record 5th Time.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
The 12th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was held in England. This World Cup was a round-robin one in which one team will play with all the other teams similar to 1992 World Cup. This World Cup was marred with the rain as many matches were called off due to intermittent rain. Pakistan had only one bad game that too against West Indies with respect to net run rate but that game kept them out of the knock-out stages. Pakistan had the caliber of being a Champion Team but they didn’t play like a Team. India and Australia were dominating the league stages but England’s attacking instincts and aggression proved to be the difference in the last. New Zealand and England played the finale of the World Cup were both teams deserved to be the Champions but England outclassed New Zealand on the boundary count as the Super Over was also Tied.
Captain Eoin Morgan with the World Cup
Rohit Sharma of India was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 648 runs. David Warner of Australia scored 647 runs. Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh scored 606 runs. Kane Williamson of New Zealand scored 578 runs. Mitchell Starc of Australia was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 27 wickets whereas Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand took 21 scalps. Jofra Archer of England & Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh both the bowlers took 20 wickets each. England won the World Cup as they played intrepid Cricket as a result they were Crowned the World Champions for the first Time.
Pakistan white-wash Zimbabwe and take the Series by 3-0. This T20I Series was also played behind the doors due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It looks like now that Cricket is Coming back to Pakistan.
#Pakistan
Babar Azam was the Top Run Scorer of this T20I Series where he amassed 133 runs which included 2 matches winning half centuries. Babar Azam now looks completely set for the Captaincy in the White Ball format. The burden of Captaincy has made Babar Azam more complete Batsman which is a good indication for PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board). Haider Ali scored 100 runs which included one knock of 66 runs in the 2nd T20I. Khushdil Shah the middle order batsman scored 52 runs as he had a good outing where he played a quick-fire cameo of 36 runs. The batting department of Pakistan didn’t face tough times as a result Pakistan’s dominance was seen in all the 3 T20I Matches.
Usman Qadir made his T20I Debut for Pakistan. He took 8 wickets which included one 4 wicket haul in the 3rd T20I Match. Haris Rauf the fast bowler took 6 wickets. He was proving to be expensive but was picking wickets at regular intervals. The other bowlers had a decent outing as the majority of the damage was done by the Fast Bowlers. Pakistan has a good bench-strength in terms of Fast bowlers & Spinners as the next T20 World Cup is just around the Corner.
#Zimbabwe
Wesley Madhevere the middle order batsman scored 103 runs which included one knock of 70 runs in the 1st T20I. Chamu Chibhabha the skipper of Zimbabwe failed to make an Impact with the Bat as he scored only 46 runs throughout the T20I Series. There were high expectations from the likes of Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams but both failed to live up to their reputations.
Blessing Muzurabani the fast bowler took 4 scalps. He was the only bowler who showed rhythm throughout the T20I Series from Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe need to strengthen their bowling department as bowlers too have the caliber to change the nature of the match & game.
Pakistan won the ODI Series by a Margin of 2-1. Zimbabwe Salvaged some sort of Pride by winning a Thrilling 3rd ODI Match. The 3rd match was first Tied and then went into the Super Over where Zimbabwe thrashed Pakistan. Pakistan had a New Skipper in the form of a Consistent and Dangerous Babar Azam. As now all the ODI Series and Matches are part of World Cup Super League in which every match has got points. Pakistan now have 20 Points whereas Zimbabwe have 10 Points. Zimbabwe would be extremely delighted to have some sort of points on board.
The ODI Series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was played in Rawalpindi under Covid-19 Protocols set by ICC (International Cricket Council). All the ODI’s were played behind the doors. International Cricket once again got Started in the form of this spectacular ODI Series.
#Pakistan
Pakistan would be Happy as now it looks like Babar Azam is set for Leadership in white ball cricket. He amassed 221 runs which comprised of 1 Century of 125 Runs and one knock of 77 runs. Imam-ul-Haq the Opening Batsman was in a Decent form as he scored 111 Runs which involved 1 half century. Pakistan have made it clear and have moved on from their former wicket-keeper and skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. They named a new wicket-keeper in his place in the form of Mohammed Rizwan who is still juvenile to International Cricket. Haris Sohail played 1 match but he played a match winning knock of 71 runs. It looks like now that Haris Sohail is a vital cog for Pakistan in white ball Cricket, The batting department of Pakistan has got what it takes to be successful at International Level but their batting collapses are once again hurting them very much.
Shaheen Afridi took 5 Wickets in this ODI Series which included one 5 wicket haul. Shaheen is raw but is doing his Best with the New Ball. Wahab Riaz took 5 Wickets which proved to be lethal as he produced sheer pace, Mohammed Musa the tyro fast bowler took one 5 wicket haul. He is proving to be a valuable asset for Pakistan as he has got the pace & accuracy to succeed at this Level. As Mohammed Aamir was dropped from this ODI Series on the basis of Performance it doesn’t look like that his absence was missed as Pakistan has got now the depth in bowling.
#Zimbabwe
Finally, the Hard-Work of Zimbabwe got paid as they got extremely important 10 points in ICC World Cup Super League. The experienced campaigner Brendan Taylor scored 204 runs which included 1 century as he played a knock of 112 runs and scored one half century. Brendan Taylor played the role of a Senior Batsman perfectly as he steadied Zimbabwe’s ship and also made sure that he can be a catalyst for Zimbabwe at the back end of the Innings. Sean Williams scored 197 runs which included a 1 century of 118 runs and one-half century. Sean Williams is paying the role of middle order almost perfectly as his experience is paying now for Zimbabwe. The batting department rests on the shoulders of Sean Williams & Brendan Taylor as both these players have invaluable experience where Brendan Taylor has batted at all positions since his debut for Zimbabwe.
Blessing Muzarabani the fast bowler took 7 scalps and all 7 wickets were taken in the 3rd ODI itself. Tendai Chisoro the spin bowling all-rounder took 4 wickets as he proved his worth of an all-rounder. The bowling department of Zimbabwe is low on experience but they have got the skill and talent to give the opponent team a tough time. It won’t be wrong to say that this Zimbabwe team has given the glimpse of their previous teams in 1980s, 1990s & 2000
The Final League Stage Match of Dream11 IPL (Indian Premiere League) has got its twists and turns. The Tussle for the 4th Team to make it to the Play-offs is getting tighter. SRH (Sun Risers Hyderabad) need to win the Match to stay and make it to the Play-Offs. KKR’s (Kolkata Knight Riders) Fate of making to the Play-Offs is in the hands of MI (Mumbai Indians). KKR can qualify only when Mumbai beat Hyderabad in a high voltage clash.
Sun Risers Hyderabad
The Scenario for SRH is Simple as their Final League Stage Clash is a Do or Die Game. SRH have had a mixed Season so far where they won 6 Games out of 13. The main Conundrum for SRH is that they are too much Reliant & Dependent on their Skipper David Warner. It’s High Time now that SRH’s Entire Batting Unit puts a Stellar Performance. Kane Williamson needs to showcase his Leadership Skills while Batting as he is the Beat & Rhythm of the Middle Order. SRH’s bowlers have the Caliber to defend a Moderate Target and also, they are good at Restricting the Opposition which makes them a Special Team in IPL.
SRH is one of the most Consistent Teams when it comes to making Play-Offs. Since 2016 they are finding a Way to Surprise every Team. This time SRH have got two Skippers Present in the Team in the form of David Warner & Kane Williamson who is the Skipper of New Zealand’s Cricket Team. SRH’s way of playing Cricket is unorthodox but due to this brand of Cricket they won an IPL in 2016 under the Leadership of the Dazzling David Warner.
Mumbai Indians
This Match for MI is nothing but a Formality & a Chance for Testing their Bench Strength. Mumbai Indians have won 9 Games out of 13 which showcases their Way of Playing Cricket. Kieron Pollard who is the stand in skipper for MI as Rohit Sharma is out of the IPL due to an injury. Pollard recently has the experience of Captaining a Franchise Team as he was the Skipper for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in CPL (Caribbean Premiere League) 2020. Under his Leadership TKR won the CPL convincingly. MI batting line up need to fill the shoes of Rohit Sharma as not having him at the back end of the Tournament is heart wrecking. The likes of Pandya Brothers: Hardik & Krunal & especially Ishan Kishan need to take the responsibility on their shoulders while setting the powerplay overs on fire. Every-time Suryakumar Yadav is not going to score runs which MI needs to take into account & consideration. The bowling line up of MI is one of the Best as they have Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult both who are just killing it in every Match.
MI is the most successful franchise as they have won 4 Titles till now out of 12 IPL Seasons. They have won an IPL Season in every odd year till today: 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019. MI this year have done everything to say that they are the Red- Hot Favorites to bag this Year’s IPL. The only thing that bothers MI is that they don’t have their skipper Rohit Sharma who was & is the vital cog in every MI’s Triumph/s.
There has been a hike of rape cases in India since last decade and may be even before that but have we taken a dig at why such malicious act is done. The core reason behind all this has been the Sexualization of Women in Indian Cinema, Television Serials since last 20 years and recently Web Series are trending. These types of content attract not only the pervert/ mean category of people but even the highly educated people as they get a temptation and a cruel act is performed.
All this is being telecasted on theatres and television sets which is pure reel. Due to which the citizens of India get awed by such acts and then they try to practice/exhibit those in their real life. Some actresses who give lectures/ speeches/ interviews on feminism & women empowerment by quoting and saying that “they want freedom and they get that freedom by wearing a comfortable outfit “even which would depict them as semi-naked. Those ladies have got no problem of security & fear and at an extreme level they would get trolled by netizens and receive hoax calls but they won’t ever go through the pain of a victim as they don’t belong to the real India. By stating such statements, they are encouraging a common man’s daughter, sister etc. to be like them by wearing those exposing outfits as a result they fight with their family for their freedom.
Here not only the actresses but the whole crew and industry is to be blamed who have demolished Indian Culture in Indian Cinema as nowadays when there is a festive season then only we are able to witness Indian Culture that too which is merely of maximum fortnight. The industry says that focus on the story and moral but they won’t make the story more compelling to have an impact on people’s life.
It does not justify that the men have no wrongdoing in rape cases but unless and until one action is performed another action won’t happen. Whenever we hear of a rape case then we get stunned and start to blame the accused ones; often everyone starts speaking that the truth will win and justice would be served and there is a quote which says “The lie always loses”; all these type of sentences and slogans are used during that phase; but nobody tells that “Lie will lose undoubtedly but it won’t be never ever be buried and finished” this is the mind boggling truth and reality; as the gulf between justice and injustice is expanding indefinitely for which there is no conclusive justification……
Indian Premiere League (IPL) is unarguably recognized as one of the Finest and Richest League on the Planet. IPL got started way back in 2008. The Chief Architect of starting this Tournament was the Former IPL Chairman and Commissioner till 2010 Lalit Modi. IPL has removed the barrier between Foreign Players as India’s juvenile and tyro lads are getting invaluable guidance and help from Overseas Greats. In IPL the maximum limit of Squad is 25 Players in which maximum of 17 Indian Players should be present and a Maximum of 8 Overseas Players are allowed per team. 64 Foreign Players play in every season of IPL as there are 8 Teams. The Coaches of IPL Franchise Teams are mostly Foreign Greats only which gives tremendous exposure to Indian Players as History is Evident for India that whenever India had a Foreign Coach they clinched ICC Tournaments; in the form of Legendary Coach Gary Kirsten India won 2011 WC after a drought period/span of 28 years; also in 2013 Duncan Fletcher added Champions Trophy to India’s Hall of Fame and made one of India’s Greatest Captain MS Dhoni the only Skipper in the World to win T20 WC in 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013
Introduction
IPL is such a mega tournament that it is regarded one of the toughest Tournament after the ICC Tournament as in IPL all foreign players play in a single team i.e. Aussies, Kiwis, Caribbean’s, Proteas, Britishers, Asian players except Pakistani Players as BCCI and IPL have prohibited their participation as in 26/11 in 2008 there was a heart wrecking attack done by Pakistan Born Terrorists due to which Pakistani Players tasted only 1 season of IPL in 2008 which was the inaugural edition of IPL. IPL has got Umpires and Match Referees who are immensely experienced and the same is with Commentators and this makes IPL the Best Franchise League in the Planet as the level of the game and its quality is supreme. What makes IPL famous and a lightning tournament is that all the players of different countries participate in it as there is no ICC Scheduled Bilateral Matches in April and in May except in the end of May where ECB (England Cricket Board) organizes bilateral series with Countries like New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka etc. Michael Vaughan Former England Captain who won Ashes in England in 2005 after a gap of 19 years and is regarded as one of the Shrewd Captain the British ever had. He in 2015 stressed that ECB should allow players to participate in IPL as according to him IPL is a stepping stone towards International Cricket and ICC Tournaments and this statement came as England had a debacle in 2015 WC as they got eliminated in the first stage of the tournament and that too they got thrashing by the under dogs Bangladesh; the turn around for England came in next World Cup as they got Crowned World Cup Champions in 2019 WC and ended their drought period of 44 years as the inventor of Cricket finally won World Cup at the Lord’s in a controversial one by boundary count according to ICC rules and regulations where Mighty Black Caps won Hearts of the entire Cricketing World for their spirit and culture. IPL has made the game of Gentleman’s more exciting as due to IPL the brotherhood of players has reached at another level but at the same time the overseas players get a clear cut idea in order to how to fox the batsman and bowler of Indian origin and the same is for Indian players where they get to know the flaws of opponent player. The presence of great Former players like Adam Gilchrist of Australia, Trevor Bayliss of Australia, Gary Kirsten of South Africa, Mike Hesson of New Zealand and many more as the Coaching Staff has molded the entire Generation of Cricket as the experience which these Coaches have they have made players of platinum standard the likes of Virat Kohli, Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan, Quinton De Kock, Ben Stokes and many more
Research
IPL has become such a humongous and gigantic medium that it is no longer Indian Premiere League as it has become International Premiere League. The reason behind it is that every Cricketer on this Planet dreams to Play in IPL as IPL pays Cricketers in Crores Rupees/ Millions only for a span of 40 odd days. The experience which Overseas players get is priceless as playing in India’s Spicy Pitches and Turning Tracks is a boon for every Overseas Players as now they have got accustomed playing against India’s bowlers, batsman and all-rounders. There are “n” Foreign Players who have made their Career on International Stage and we can also say put their Career on Right Path by performing Consistently in IPL Seasons and some notable Cricketers are:
Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka who used to bat at No.7 Position got promotion as he became Sri Lanka’s Successful Opening Batsman from 2009-2016 in all the 3 formats. He also became famous for his Dil Scoop Shot where Spectators used to replicate his batting style in 2011 WC and he was also one of the reasons behind their Triumph in 2014 T20I WC.

Shane Watson of Australia became Australia’s one of the Best All rounders as his Scintillating Performances in IPL made him a Star as in 2009 ICC Champions Trophy he was adjudged as Man of the Tournament which was a sign that Watson is going to be ruthless and Cricket Experts witnessed in 2012 ICC T20 WC where he was named Man of Tournament where he dismantled Bowlers and Smashed them out of the Park and he was a Partnership Breaker Bowler for Captain where he was Instrumental in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as Australia Clinched the World Cup for a Record 5th Time and gave the likes of Mitchell Johnson, Brad Haddin and Michael Clarke a Fairytale Farewell.

Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka became the Sensation of Yorkers as he destroyed even the likes of MS Dhoni, AB de Villers and many batsmen with his Wrecking Yorkers. For his success in taking wickets he gave the credit to one of the crafty batsmen Mahela Jayawardene. His deadliest action also came under scanner but he never gave up on Cricket. His Performance in ICC T20 WC 2014 gave a befitting farewell Sri Lanka’s All Time Greats in T20I format: Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene.

Ben Stokes of England helped England to finally Win ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 as England won the World Cup only because of him as his match winning knock of 84 runs in the Final of WC. He was the franchise of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in 2016 and 2017 and then with Rajasthan Royals (RR) for 2018,2019 and 2020. He gave the credit to IPL in 2017 for his match winning knock against the Cunning Aussies in ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. IPL helped England to turn a new leaf in their Cricket as now England looks to be the most promising and dangerous team in all the 3 formats.

IPL undoubtedly has transformed Indian Cricket broadly and there are many players who have turned the tide for themselves as out of 11 players in a team of an IPL Team there are 7 players of India. There are many players who have changed their fortune and sparkled on International Stage which are:
Ravindra Jadeja of Rajasthan Royals (RR) Franchise and now of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has made name in International Stage as one of the Best Acrobatic Fielder and made place for himself in Indian Team mostly through his fielding skills and not to forget his bowling which won India the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 where no one gave India a chance to lift the trophy but Jadeja proved to be the vital cog in India’s triumph
Ravindra Jadeja got the Golden Ball for being the Leading Wicket Taker in India’s Triumph in ICC Champions Trophy 2013
Rohit Sharma of Deccan Chargers (DC) and currently now of Mumbai Indians (MI) Franchise just demolished the bowlers when he was promoted as the opening batsman from 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He is the only batsman who has smashed three 200+ scores in ODI that too against a Puissant Australian Bowling Attack and two double centuries against Sri Lanka and he holds the highest score in ODI format of 264 Runs in the year of 2014. In ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 he became the first batsman to score 6 Centuries in World Cup and he was the Leading Run Scorer with 648 Runs but unfortunately all his efforts and centuries went in Vain as India failed to Win ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
On the Right-Side Rohit Sharma who played a vital role in playing out the new ball in India’s Triumph of ICC Champions Trophy 2013
Jasprit Bumrah of Mumbai Indians (MI) Franchise has now earned the tag of Yorker Machine and he gives the Credit to the Lasith Malinga as both the players are of MI Franchise where Malinga transformed Bumrah and made him a sensation in all the 3 formats. In 2018-19 where India toured Down Under (Australia) for 4 Test Matches for Border Gavaskar Trophy Bumrah rattled the Aussies as he took a whopping 21 Wickets and he was one of the reason India finally won a Series in Australia for the first time in 70 years; but at the same time India tasted this success in the absence of the Duo Smith-Warner who were banned for their involvement in the infamous ball tampering Saga in Newlands South Africa in March 2018 where both were banned for a year.
Jasprit Bumrah joyful after Retaining the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19 and also for winning a Test Series Against Australia in Australia for the First Time in 70 years
In IPL the players who play make a lot of money by playing match/es and at the same time the spectators who watch the game are also earning by playing fantasy-based games and their Brand Ambassadors. The fantasy- based games which are in ascendancy is only because of their Loved and Inspiring Legends which are as follows:
Dream 11: Legendary Skipper, Wicket Keeper Batsman MS Dhoni
My 11 Circle: Sourav Ganguly and One of the Best All Rounders of all time Shane Watson
My Team 11: One of the Best Destructive Batsman Virender Sehwag
Ballebaazi: One of the Best all-rounder of India Yuvraj Singh
HalaPlay: Pandya Brothers; Hardik and Krunal Pandya
Skill2Fortune: Emerging Shreyas Iyer
MPL: Example of Breaking Records Virat Kohli
In the above fantasy games the spectators/audience need to create their own team out of 22 players and pay an amount of minimum 50 Rs and sometimes more also and they can also pay according to their paying condition i.e. playing starts from 10 Rs also and then on the basis of how a player performs they get points and the spectator who scores maximum points earns cash of 1 lakh and more and the people who score less are rewarded with money around 1000 Rs and less. Due to these apps for a tournament like IPL, BBL (Big Bash League of Australia), CPL (Caribbean Premiere League of West Indies), BPL (Bangladesh Premiere League of Bangladesh), PSL (Pakistan Super League of Pakistan), MSL (Mzansi Super League of South Africa) and many more Franchise Based Cricket Leagues Crore Rupees has been set as the reward for the one who scores the highest points in the entire tournament.
There are 2 Global Websites who are doing Betting since last 2 decades who are bet365 and Betway. These two are in hegemony as these 2 Apps place bets on the match till the last ball of the match and they predict each and every thing of the match i.e. toss, how many runs would be scored of this over and ball, etc. The minimum amount through which we can place our bet is Rs 10. These two are the Daddy Apps of Betting which are of Foreign Soil
In India there is one app called which is similar to bet365 and Betway which is NostraGamus Pro. This app is completely of skill as we have to make 12 picks of a match that who will score more runs, how many wickets would be lost in the entire match, who will win the match etc. A person can play this game by having 6 Rs in his/her wallet and can earn up to 20,000 Rs in a span of 2 hours and a maximum to 8 hours only by using Knowledge and Skill which should be Impeccable and Immaculate as Earning Money is not that easy because earning a 5 digit money takes arduous work of mind
Through this Betting apps a Person can fulfill his/her desires and get unimaginable confidence in the daily life as the pleasure and satisfaction which money gives is invaluable. There is one person whose entire life changed as he was constantly playing these apps who earned around a 5 digit through his talent and skill whose name is Varad. During a conversation he told that these apps made the Cricket for him more exciting and enthralling as now he is not only earning money but he is enjoying cricket a lot than previous days. When asked about what has he done of the money he said he paid his fees and that year he topped that year and he told that the feeling which he got by writing the paper on his own money was mesmerizing and when he got to hear and know that he topped the exam he was in shock of happiness. When asked that does he still plays and does betting he said that he is on a Mission on earning money as this source of earning money is far more better as he said that in a match of 2 hours (A session is of 2 hours) he earns a lot of money due to which his daily life and house works on it. His story is a great example where betting apps can change the life and mold the future of a Man where he can live a Happy Life.
In India where betting is illegal according to the Indian Constitution but now Cricket’s Legends are doing promotion and where the ICC (International Cricket Council) has made Dream 11 as the Official Sponsor for the ICC Tournaments. Indian Constitution does not have any objection regarding the Online Betting Apps which almost every individual is taking this as a boon as now we can see every fan of Cricket playing games on this app and earning a lot of money.
Betting is such an offensive word in the Dictionary of India that it is regarded as a Gambling. There was such a shocking instance at International Level where the name of Cricket hit a new low which is as follows:
In 2010 Pakistan’s former captain Salman Butt took the money and he told the fast bowlers Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Aamir to deliberately bowl the no balls and this incident of spot fixing was caught red handed by ICC’s Anti-Corruption Bureau and it was telecasted on Sky Sports of England and after all the incident was shown on Television Salman Butt, Mohammed Aamir and Mohammed Asif all the three players were sent to jail for a span of 5 years for breaching the code of conduct and corrupting the game and this punishment seemed to be befitting for the trio and a lesson for the future cricketers to never ever do spot fixing. Salman Butt damaged the name of Cricket for earning money through fraudulent way and in doing so he not only ended his career with Mohammed Asif but put a stain on the novice Mohammed Aamir who was only 17-year-old. Later after their Suspension Aamir got a straight entry in the Pakistan National Team but Salman and Asif were and are still blatantly ignored by the selectors.
History
IPL’s first inaugural edition in 2008 got started in an incredible way as Brendon McCullum of New Zealand and of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set the stage on fire where he blasted a knock of 158 runs in the first match of IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and that just took the World by Storm and augured that something big is going to happen in World Cricket as an Aussie, Kiwi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Indian, Caribbean and South African were playing in the same team and this happened for the first time in the history of T20 Cricket as the rivals became best buddies of each other.
McCullum of KKR thrashed RCB
Earlier in 2005 there used to be World XI vs Australia and Asia XI vs South Africa Matches but these were of 50 Over Games and these matches were taking place very rarely as the ICC FTP (Future Tour Programs) used to schedule these matches in a gap of 2 years. ECB didn’t give permission to their players to participate in IPL as they wanted their players to focus on domestic cricket which they call as County Cricket. The first edition of IPL saw the Legends of Cricket the likes of Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, Hussey Brothers, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Shivnarine Chanderapaul and many more groom the next generation.
The big thing which the spectators and Cricket Experts witnessed was that the game of T20 Cricket is no longer played on the paper as the high voltage and dangerous team of Deccan Chargers (DC) had a wooden spoon in the inaugural edition but that not raised that much eye brows because Rajasthan Royals who had an inexperienced side and were given the tag of underdogs clinched the title and sidelined the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) who had that firepower and balance to win IPL Tournament. Rajasthan Royals had the legendary leg spinner Shane Warne as the Captain and he was the only Overseas Skipper as all the remaining 7 Franchises had Indian Skippers the likes of Ganguly, Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Sehwag. In IPL there was a match every night at 8:00 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays there used to be double headers at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The game of T20 Cricket demanded quick runs, cunning variations and acrobatic fielding style which Yusuf Pathan, Shane Watson, Shaun Marsh, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma etc. players had and the Senior Players not failed but were not that dynamic in the game and it made a statement that T20 Cricket requires young blood but the presence of Legendary Players is priceless as the guidance which they give and knowledge which they possess can transform any player.
Rajasthan Royals won IPL in 2008
The 2nd edition of IPL took place in South Africa as in 2009 India had Elections and as the problem of security took place. From the 2nd Edition Pakistani Players were not allowed to participate in IPL due to the attacks of 26/11. South Africa had bouncy and fast pitches. It was the same South Africa where the inaugural 2007 T20I WC was organized where bowlers enjoyed the pace and bounce and also the batsmen were merciless and who would forget Yuvraj Singh’s 6 sixes against Stuart Broad where Yuvraj dismantled not only England but the Cruel Aussies in Semis. IPL of 2009 made a strong statement in which Deccan Chargers (DC) under the leadership of the Legendary Wicket Keeper and Opening Batsman of Australia Adam Gilchrist won the second edition of IPL who in 2008 had a wooden spoon which raised a lot about their team culture and character but Darren Lehmann the Coach of DC and Adam Gilchrist wanted to make a statement about themselves. The crowd in 2009 IPL was not that much but the Proteas fans were very much happy as AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Graeme Smith, Jacque Kallis were playing another day which made the stands of South Africa go full. IPL got a new home in the form of South Africa and there were talks going on that BCCI and IPL should try new Country every year as the Support which IPL got in South Africa. This IPL was very crucial as after IPL the ICC T20I WC 2009 was right there and surprisingly Pakistan won the title in England where no one gave them a chance.
Deccan Chargers Won IPL in 2009
The 3rd Edition of IPL was back in India and this time IPL was organized in the middle of March as the 3rd ICC T20I WC 2010 was in the month of May. IPL this time was a dress rehearsal for the T20I WC in Caribbean. Mumbai Indians under the leadership of Sachin Tendulkar in this IPL were looking set to grab the title as they were unstoppable and unbeatable but Chennai Super Kings of MS Dhoni played mind games and used witty techniques and strategies to outfox the batsmen and bowler as CSK won IPL for the first time in 2010. The final of 2010 IPL saw bizarre decisions taken by the staff of MI where they kept the behemoth Kieron Pollard in the sheds and brought him when the required run rate was more than 13 runs per over and he had only 3 overs left to win the IPL of 2010 for MI. MS Dhoni used his captaincy to get rid of Pollard and this victory signaled that CSK can win from any position. Once again in T20I WC 2010 India failed to win the Tournament but again there was a new winner which the Cricketing World Witnessed which was the Mighty Britishers who added maiden ICC Tournament in their Hall of Fame.
Chennai Super Kings won IPL in 2010
The 4th Edition of IPL was absolutely lightning as in 2011 India won the 50 Over WC after a drought period of 28 years and the atmosphere for the 2011 IPL was mesmerizing. 2011 IPL saw 2 more franchise teams in the form of Pune Warriors India (PWI) and Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) 2011 IPL saw the destruction of Chris Gayle who whacked the bowlers all round the park where he amassed 608 runs. IPL once again witnessed humongous totals and where Lasith Malinga was assasining the batsmen with his thunderstorm deliveries. Just when it looked like IPL would see another Champion in the form of RCB but once again the wittiness of MS Dhoni sealed the 2010 IPL and became the first team to Retain the IPL Trophy. In the 4 Editions of IPL it was clearly evident that India’s bench strength is getting sturdy and at the same time the overseas players are also getting developed.
Chennai Super Kings Won IPL in 2011
The 5th Edition of IPL once again was critical as this time the ICC T20I WC 2012 was organized in Sri Lanka where the conditions of India and Sri Lanka are almost same. Kochi Tuskers Kerala were boycotted from IPL as they failed to give a guarantee to the BCCI regarding the payment due to which the IPL of 2012 was of 9 times. IPL of 2012 saw a major change in the fortune of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they finally tasted success in IPL as they were crowned Champions of IPL 2012 and this turn around took place as they gave the reins to the fighting Gautam Gambhir from 2011. IPL of 2012 gave a hope to the other franchises that they can also life IPL trophy as CSK was so dominating that they gave no chances to the opposition. Chris Gayle once again showed to the world that there is no one better than him as he smashed 733 runs. As IPL was progressing the importance of veteran foreign and sub continental players was declining in the playing XI. Every day a new star was born in this IPL and it sounded that this is just the beginning. The T20I WC of 2012 once again for India proved to be forgettable were they were knocked out in the group stage and Cricketing World got a New T20I Champion in the form of the West Indies who were ruthless throughout the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders Won IPL in 2012
The 6th edition of IPL gave goosebumps to the entire India as Delhi Police caught Rajasthan Royals (RR) : Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila in an offence of doing spot fixing and this didn’t stop as one match of RR vs CSK there were allegations raised on MS Dhoni and an Actor Vindu Dara Singh was also arrested for doing betting who was in the stands with the wife of Dhoni Sakshi Dhoni. Raj Kundra co-owner of RR was also allegedly involved in the betting. Some bookies also mentioned that MS Dhoni fixed the match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur; after the first innings of CSK Mike Hussey who is often regarded as the Mr. Cricket told in a short interview that Rajasthan are favorites to win this match because they have the Watson Factor who is one of the Best all time All Rounders which the Cricket has ever produced and coincidentally Watson took the team out of trouble and RR won the game where they were in tatters. CSK had such a prestigious culture and a record of consistency as they reached to the play offs in each and every season. The image of CSK and RR who were the former IPL Champions got shattered and most importantly IPL got a stain on it. The focus of cricket got shifted as the spectators lost the faith in IPL. IPL of 2013 saw a new franchise come in the place of Deccan Chargers (DC) as they failed to give the bank guarantee to BCCI and in their place Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) came and took over the entire squad of Deccan Chargers (DC).
Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan who were involved in spot fixing
IPL of 2013 saw Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting together as an opening partnership where the Fans cherished this moment as both Legends batted together because at one place there was class and aggression with bat and on one side there was absolute dynamic, animated and one of the most successful captains in the history of Cricket who won 2 consecutive 50 over World Cups way back in 2003 and in 2007 and not to forget the two thumping Victories of Champions Trophy in 2006 and in 2009. Watching both these legends bat together was a dream for every child especially for the 90s born kids.
Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting playing for Mumbai Indians
Both Sachin and Ponting got injured in the middle of the tournament and they gave the reins of the team to Rohit Sharma who changed the base from Deccan Chargers (DC) to Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2011 IPL onwards. Rohit Sharma finally made MI Champions in 2013 IPL as they finally had a trophy in their cabinet. The Caribbean Players were shining and were just enjoying themselves as it was looking like that Caribbean Players made the most of an IPL Contract by consistently picking wickets in the form of DJ Bravo who stunned everyone with his deceptions as he grabbed 32 wickets in the season. BCCI ordered an investigation into these matters of betting and spot fixing and they immediately Suspended Sreesanth, Chavan and Chandila for their vicious acts which harmed Indian Cricket. Till Today Sreesanth who is often regarded as a lucky charm for India as when he was in team for ICC T20I WC 2007 and in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 India had won that too tournaments but for his offensive actions BCCI has not lifted his ban even after winning the High Court Case. When MS Dhoni was questioned about this matter and his name, he said that he will tell everything and speak when time will come. MS Dhoni was a decorated Indian Captain that time as the management and BCCI supported him.
Mumbai Indians Won IPL in 2013
After the IPL there was Champions Trophy 2013 in England & Wales and Dhoni as a skipper took bold decisions as he dropped Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Harbhajan. The media was burning MS Dhoni for his decisions and from nowhere India won the Champions Trophy in England and MS Dhoni became the first and only captain to win all the 3 ICC Tournaments. MS Dhoni proved to be once again the main mastermind behind India’s triumph where he supported the likes of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan to open and showed faith in the spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja who were bang on target with their line and length and not to forget the responsibility which MS gave to Ishant Sharma to bowl overs in crunch situations and everything paid off. MS Dhoni also said that India needs the young brigadier and blood to win and that happened in 2013 Champions Trophy. The main wrecker in chief for India was in the form of the coach Duncan Fletcher who helped an underdog team India to win a Tournament in Britain. After this tournament all the allegations against MS Dhoni were removed as there was no conclusive evidence where he was guilty but still there was a chink in the two Franchises CSK and RR.
The 7th Edition of IPL took place after the T20 WC which was held in Bangladesh in which India failed in the Finals against the Sri Lanka where everyone put blame on Yuvraj Singh for his slow innings of 11 runs in 21 balls which completely disturbed the rhythm of India’s innings because India were batting 1st. Sri Lanka comfortably chased down the target and they became the 3rd Asian Country to Win a T20I WC. After the match the fans of India attacked the house of Yuvraj for his poor show on a grand stage. As ICC T20I WC were witnessing new Champions every time the fever of IPL was not declining as the Culprits of the Game were not and still not allowed to even enter a cricket ground. IPL of 2014 didn’t saw Pune Warriors India (PWI) as they withdrew due to differences with the BCCI. IPL once again was a competition of 8 only teams. The first half of the IPL of 2014 was held in UAE due to Elections and the next half was way back in India. IPL of 2014 saw the emergence of KXIP Kings XI Punjab who took the IPL by storm as Glenn Maxwell was just toying with the bowlers and he was well accompanied by the Killer David Miller. Just when it looked like RR had booked a place in the place offs MI dethroned them by chasing a target of 190 runs in 14.4 overs as there was calculation done for MI to qualify and that match is often remembered for the Six which Aditya Tare hit on the deciding ball (deciding in the sense if Aditya Tare had hit a six then only MI had qualified); that match is still remembered for the MI culture and a never to say die attitude as they were earlier out of the tournament as in the first 7 matches they had won only 2 but they didn’t loose hope and such a story of MI was not less than a fairytale; it is another point that they failed to retain IPL Trophy but such passion and craze only the MI had and still have. KKR spoiled the party of KXIP in the finals and became the second team to win two titles of IPL where first was CSK. Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy was bold and full of energy as a result there were talks going to once again consider him for India.
Kolkata Knight Riders Won IPL in 2014
The 8th Edition was held after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 where once again the Sly Aussies clinched the 50 over World Cup for a Record 5th Time and Aussies thrashed India in the Semis and ended the hopes of a Billion. India in 2015 WC made a record by taking all the wickets in their 7 Matches including the Quarter Final as they picked 70 wickets and became the only team till now to bundle out the opposition in the league stage and in Quarter Final. IPL of 2015 had major focus on the emerging Smith and Faulkner as both were the chief Architect behind Australia’s Success in 2015 WC and great cricketing experts didn’t gave even a slim chance to Aussies to win World Cup but Aussies showed that they know how to win ICC Tournaments and especially the 50 over World Cups. Mumbai Indians once again had a similar start to the IPL of 2013 but this time they were even losing the games which they had won. CSK continued their dominance but MI were taking giant steps forward. Once again, the final of IPL was between CSK and MI for 3rd Time and this time MI leapfrogged CSK and bagged the title for a record 2nd time and became the 3rd Team to win the title where CSK and KKR won 2 titles each. Rohit Sharma was evolving as a captain and it looked like India’s bench strength was improving in terms of the captaincy as the likes of Rohit and Virat were showing results. After a thorough investigation into spot fixing BCCI suspended CSK and RR for 2 seasons and in their place 2 new Franchises were added.
Mumbai Indians Won IPL in 2015
The 9th Edition once again was held after the ICC T20I WC 2016 where India this time were knocked out in the Semis against the gigantic West Indies and once again dream of Billion people got rattled to see India win T20I WC in front of them as ICC T20I WC was held in India. IPL of 2016 proved to be emotional for MS Dhoni as he told in press conference that it was heart wrecking to wear a different jersey in the form of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) as RPS made Dhoni skipper for the 9th Edition of IPL. The another team which came in the place of RR was Gujarat Lions (GL) who was led by Suresh Raina. CSK’s core team was in RPS and GL and in the league stage of IPL 2016 there was a match between RPS and GL and it looked like the former CSK players were playing a practice match as from GL Ravindra Jadeja was bowling and Dhoni was batting and Suresh Raina of GL was captaining and after the match both Raina and Dhoni admitted that they never dreamt of playing such kind of match. GL of Raina were. In this edition it looked like that RCB would finally end their drought period of winning the IPL but at the last moment SRH spoiled the party of RCB as David Warner made a strong statement in the post-match conference that a team can win a tournament only when each and every player performs and not when only a couple of players perform as he indirectly said to Virat and AB de Villiers as these two players played a vital role for RCB to reach till the finals of the IPL 2016. Virat Kohli made a record in IPL by scoring four centuries and scoring 973 Runs the most in the entire T20 Tournaments held in the World. RPS had a season to forget as they didn’t perform to their potential but in their last league stage match against KXIP RPS required 12 runs off the last 2 balls and on the strike there was MS Dhoni and he pulled a miracle out of nowhere as the bowler was the left arm over off spinner Axar Patel and such a ending for RPS was a far more better than taking a wooden spoon in the tournament.
Sun Risers Hyderabad Won IPL in 2016
In the 10th Edition of IPL two franchises RPS and KXIP changed their skippers as KXIP made the swashbuckling all rounder Glenn Maxwell of Australia Captain and RPS sacked MS Dhoni as skipper for his poor performance in IPL of 2016 and made the young sensation of Australia Smith as Captain. MI had a productive season this time where they didn’t gave an inch to the opposition as they topped the league stage. At the same time RPS gave a reality check to every team including MI and this transformation took place because of Smith and also because of MS Dhoni who was playing without any pressure because Smith took the reins and sparkled on the big stage. The final of IPL 2017 was heart breaking for RPS fans as they lost the match by only 1 run where MI showed everyone that they have the mixture of experience and youth as Mitchell Johnson won the game for MI and Johnson made a statement that he may be ageing but he is still one of the best fast bowlers. MI won the title for a record 3rd Time and in all the three titles Rohit was the skipper and his shrewd style of captaincy made everyone happy that a next captain of Team India is in the making.
Mumbai Indians Won IPL in 2017
After the IPL of 2017 there was ICC Champions Trophy where earlier in the year of 2017 MS Dhoni pulled up the socks of captaincy and BCCI gave the reins to Virat Kohli. ICC Champions Trophy of 2017 gave a heartbreak to India as India collapsed in the final and surrendered against the Rivals Pakistan and that final loss also saw the end of the Coaching of India’s Finest Leg Spinner Anil Kumble as Kumble told the media during his exit that Virat Kohli had reservations of his captaincy due to which Anil Kumble resigned after the final of ICC Champions Trophy. The journey of India’s Supreme and Calm Leader came to an end in 2016 who had Trophies to show to the Cricketing World and had created a name as not the best captain but one of the successful captain who earned respect wherever he played; but at the same time a journey of an aggressive captain started who in his first ICC Tournament got into the dispute of the Coach and disturbed the dynamics of team India ; such conflicts disturbs the entire environment of the dressing room.
The 11th Edition of IPL saw the returns of CSK and RR as they faced the punishment for their spot fixing saga and once again the chants of CSK and MS Dhoni started as CSK retained the core of their CSK in Auction. In a meeting of CSK MS Dhoni got emotional and said missing 2 Years with family (here family means CSK’s entire staff) was the tough time in his IPL Career. CSK had a team full of experience but all were above 30 years and mostly 35-36 who were on the verge of finishing their International Year and some were done with the National Duties. Everyone gave CSK a tag of Daddy’s Army. IPL of 2018 didn’t have Smith and Warner as both were suspended by BCCI for their infamous ball tampering saga at Newlands South Africa and before that Cricket Australia (CA) suspended Cameron Bancroft for 9 months and both Smith and Warner for one year for their involvement in ball tampering and Smith was also banned for 1 year for captaincy for suspension and David Warner also got a life time suspension for leadership group. Darren Lehmann Coach of Australia also resigned and was in tears with what happened to Cricket of Australia. Warner was the main mastermind behind ball tampering and after six months Cameron Bancroft revealed in an interview conducted by the Legendary Wicket Keeper Batsman Adam Gilchrist that Warner trained him and motivated to do ball tampering; in a press conference Smith admitted that he had the opportunity to stop ball tampering but he regretted his decision. CSK was facing tough times in the fielding due to the ageing players but they also told to the critics when it comes to play to match winning innings there is no one better than the experienced players as the likes of DJ Bravo, Faf Du Plessis and Shane Watson single handedly won the game for CSK. KXIP were making life tougher for opponents as KL Rahul scored the fastest IPL in the history of IPL in just 14 balls and he was just slaying the bowlers and hitting them all around the park. But they failed in the second half of the tournament and lost momentum. Kane Williamson of SRH was the skipper for 2018 Edition of IPL as Warner was sacked by BCCI and he was the leading run scorer of IPL with 735 runs IPL of 2018. The final of IPL 2018 was nothing short of a fairy tale as CSK won the IPL for a record 3rd Time. The Butcher was none other than Shane Watson who made a statement that form is temporary and class is permanent as he scored a thumping century of 117 runs in just 57 balls. CSK roared and told everyone that allegations against them were nothing but fake.
Chennai Super Kings Won IPL in 2018
The 12th Edition of IPL was held entirely in India as BCCI provided security to the players as in 2009 and in 2014 IPL was held in different countries. The 12th Edition of IPL was a stepping stone for the likes of Smith and Warner who were out of the Cricketing Action for Australia. For both IPL was very important to get their eye back in the game where Smith is a stalwart and Warner has an image of a dashing batsman. As ICC Cricket World Cup was scheduled right after IPL 2019 England and Australian Players were allowed to play only half tournament of IPL The name of Delhi Daredevils got changed to Delhi Capitals (DC) as Delhi Franchise was owned by two owners GMR Group and JSW Group. The fortune of DC changed by changing names as they finished the League stage with 18 points with 3rd Position. Warner set the stage on the fire with his scintillating performances as he was the leading run scorer with 692 runs and it looked like a cruel Opener is Back to sort out previous matters and once again make his name on the big and grand stage. Mumbai Indians were looking as threatening as ever as Rohit got so much acclimatized with captaincy that he even outfoxed MS Dhoni in the league stage. The final of IPL 2019 was once again played with the rivals MI and CSK where both the teams had won 3 titles each. Lasith Malinga this time of MI played a similar role to Mitchell Johnson in 2017 as once again MI won the IPL of 2019 by a mere 1 run and became the only team to win 4 IPL Titles out of 12 IPL Editions. There was jubilation for MI fans where they once again choked the opposition and this time it was CSK. CSK will forever remember that how Shane Watson played with an injured hamstring and there was literally blood coming out but he showcased the Aussie Spirit which never says never and a never to say die attitude. Watson’s act made a strong statement to the young generation that no matter what happens you should always put your team and country first and he became a big example and inspiration for the cricketing world for his dedication because an another player would have taken rest and leave the field but Shane Watson made a statement that why he is being regarded as one of the All Time Best All Rounders of Cricket. CSK’s entire journey wasn’t that convincing as compared to the IPL of 2018 which was also one of the reasons for their inability to win IPL 2019.
Mumbai Indians Won the IPL in 2019
After the IPL there was a biggest showpiece event ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 which was at the Great Britain. It looked like that India has now made a habit to fall short at the ICC Tournaments as this time New Zealand vanquished India in the Semis. New Zealand’s players were bang on target with their line and lengths as they made life tough for India’s batsmen and so much tough that in order to fight Indian Batsmen decided to throw the towel as a result New Zealand reached to the ICC Cricket World Cup Finals for a consecutive 2nd team. England edged New Zealand in the World Cup Final that too on a boundary count as the scores of both England and New Zealand were same even in the Super Over which happened for the first time in the history of ICC Cricket World Cup
The 13th Edition of IPL is extremely important as it will give us clear idea whether MS Dhoni will take part in ICC T20I WC 2020 which is scheduled in October- November 2020 in Australia. For the first time a T20I WC is getting held in Australia where Australia has the long boundaries in excess of 80 meters. IPL of 2020 will also tell that how Indian Players are gelling for the T20I WC. If Virat Kohli has a disappointing season of IPL then it will affect the dynamics of team as IPL is no longer Indian Premiere League it’s THE INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE LEAGUE. This year’s IPL will tell which team has an upper hand in ICC T20I WC as T20I WC is taking place after a gap of 4 years as in 2016 West Indies won the WC from the jaws of defeat. The next T20I WC after 2020 is scheduled to take place in India 2021 that’s’ why the current and next IPL Season is going to be a humdinger.
Main Connectivity between both
Media has played a big role in the fan base of IPL. IPL has forced the media to keep a show of a half an hour in which Cricket Experts the likes of Ajay Jadeja give their insights and predict what would have happen in the game. The likes of foreign players like AB De Villiers, Chris Gayle, DJ Bravo, Dale Steyn, Chris Lynn, Kieron Pollard feel like that India is their second home where they get so much love and money.
There have been special web series for IPL teams where Netflix named “Cricket Fever” in which they showed the making of a team behind the Scenes and the team discussions and meetings which indicate that how a team is formed to perform on the big stage. This Web Series is of the performance of Mumbai Indians in 2018.
There was a special Web Series for CSK named as “Roar of the Lion” by Hotstar for their comeback and winning the title in 2018 where the major focus was on how MS Dhoni influenced the team to clinch the IPL Title for 3rd Time. This Web Series was made for the comeback which the men in yellow did in 2018.
There was a Web Series made entirely on the IPL named as “Inside Edge” where it’s first Season was introduced in 2017 and Second Season in 2019 in which they showed that how franchis.es manipulate the Game to earn money and they also showed how spot fixing is done. The entire concept of betting was also explained which gave a shock to Spectators. Both the seasons of Inside Edge were phenomenal.
Conclusion
As long as IPL has got big names in the form of legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Foreign Players IPL will remain one of the Biggest Tournaments. Not only IPL but the likes of other tournaments: BBL (Big Bash League of Australia), T20 Blast of England, Hundred of England which is going to start this year 2020, MSL (Mzansi Super League of South Africa), BPL (Bangladesh Super League), Global T20 Canada, CPL (Caribbean Premiere League), T10 league; this tournaments have also changed the game of Cricket.
There is no doubt that T20 Cricket has changed the game of Gentleman’s but an aspiring Cricketer still dreams of wearing whites for his Nation as what TEST Cricket teaches is not even half what we enjoy in T20 Cricket. The likes of Smith, Warner, Root, Stokes, Quinton De Kock, Jason Holder, Virat, Kane Williamson, Starc, Cummins, Shami etc. cherish playing Test Cricket. IPL got started way back in 2008 and from that there have been 5 ICC T20I WC Tournaments, 3 ICC Champions Trophy Tournaments, 3 ICC Cricket World Cups. In which IPL has played a big role as players got developed in IPL and shined on the big stage in ICC Tournaments. India has the Richest League on the Planet and the Toughest Tournament in the World but after the start of the IPL India hasn’t won a single T20I WC which the BCCI and IPL should notice as overseas players are coming and are scoring humongous runs and taking record breaking wickets as a result sparkling in the ICC Tournaments. There are only 4 Overseas players allowed to play in a match and there are 7 Indian Players which are playing but an excruciating fact is that 4 players are proving to be dangerous. Until India grabs an ICC T20I WC it can’t be said that India is developing because after all Results matter on Big Stages not Excuses…
Australia outplayed Pakistan in all the 3 departments as Aussies clinched the Series by 2-0. Australia’s top 3 batsmen: Finch, Warner and Smith set the stage on fire with their dominating performance/s. As Glenn Maxwell took rest in the name of Mental illness it was important that the Trio of Finch, Warner and Smith displayed scintillating performances. Pakistan’s performance in this T20I Series was a mediocre one as earlier Sri Lanka had disseminated and scattered Pakistan by winning the T20I Series by 3-0 in their own backyard.
Australia won the T20I Series against Pakistan by a margin of 2-0.
#Australia
Australia’s skipper Aaron Finch scored 106 runs which
included one half century. Finch has now made himself accustomed to captaincy
as the runs are coming at a good pace. Steven Smith scored 80 runs in this T20I
Series where he scored 80 runs in the 2nd T20I Match. Steven Smith who now is getting
acclimatize to the shortest format as he is playing T20I cricket after 2016 T20
WC. David Warner scored 70 runs and he provided the early boost and impetus but
wasn’t able to convert his starts into half century. David Warner in this T20I
Series wasn’t as destructive as compared to Sri Lanka T20I Series where he was
incredible. The middle order of Australia hasn’t played ample cricket in all
these 6 T20I Matches where Sri Lanka looked in all sorts of trouble and
Pakistan failed to capitalize on the key moments as a result all these 2
Nations failed to give Aussies a sniff.
Kane Richardson
the 3rd Seamer of Australia was the leading wicket taker with 6
scalps to his name. It looks like the quest of a 3rd Seamer has finally
ended with the emergence of Kane Richardson who was a treat to watch. Ashton Agar
the crafty left arm spinner took 4 wickets. The style of Agar’s bowling was productive
as he was economical too. Mitchell Starc who now is becoming a bit of Yorker Machine
took wickets. Starc is getting better day by day with his hunger to perform on
the grand stage and his Yorkers were devastating. The bowling department of Aussies looks impeccable
but the only concern is that their spinners don’t have experience of playing on
the big stage; the Selection Committee of Australia should trust Zampa and Agar
till World Cup if Aussies want the Coveted Trophy of T20 World in their Cabinet
or Hall of Fame; because constant chopping and changing of players would create
insipid atmosphere in the dressing room
#Pakistan
Pakistan’s new T20I Skipper Babar Azam took the
Cricketing World by Storm as he was the leading run scorer with 115 runs which
included 2 half centuries. The pressure and burden of captaincy produced
brilliant performances from Babar Azam and he made statement that if a player
performs to his potential then leadership group doesn’t matter. Iftikhar Ahmed
the middle order performance amassed 108 runs which included one half century.
Iftikhar’s ability of playing lofted shots and taking the team out of trouble
was his distinctive trait. The middle order performance was very much awful as
none of them displayed performances which were attractive and eye-catching.
The bowling department which consisted of Aamir, Wahab
and Irfan; all three of them failed to put the brakes on scoring and there was
not any significant performance. The absence of Hassan Ali and Shaheen Afridi
is hurting Pakistan a lot as these 2 bowlers were the backbone of the bowling
department. The Selection Committee should make sure that the mix of youth and
senior bowlers should be inculcated in their team if they want to beat Champion
Teams as the T20 WC is banging the door.
England outclassed Kiwi by winning the T20I Series in a close fashion as the decider of the T20I Series Match got tied and England once again overcame the Super Over drama but this time the Super Over was not tied as earlier in 2019 WC the Super Over was tied. England had rested all their Senior and Talented Players the likes of Roy Butler, Stokes, Archer but the experience of Eoin Morgan paid off as the team was able to grab big moments as England won the Series by a margin of 3-2. New Zealand had the game and Series in their hands but at the defining moment/s the team failed to show character which was the reason behind their failure in this Series because when a British team is without all their star players then without any doubt and question mark the Opposition team should scatter them and win the Series. New Zealand were badly missing the Services of Skipper Kane Williamson who was rested and injured also because the captaincy of Tim Southee wasn’t clinical and good as compared with Kane’s captaincy.
England’s Skipper Eoin Morgan with the Trophy as England won the Series by 3-2 against Black Caps
#New Zealand
Martin Guptill the Vintage batsman wasn’t at his best
as he scored 153 runs which included one half century. Guptill struggled a lot
as only one match winning score is not ample and adequate for a team. Ross
Taylor the experienced campaigner and Colin de Grandhomme the pinch hitter both
these batsmen scored 110 odd runs in which Colin de Grandhomme scored one half
century. Colin De Grandhomme came into bat at No.4 position as a result he was
able to play lofted shots from the word go. Ross failed to perform the role of
experienced batsman who should have taken the team out of trouble which wasn’t
at all done by him as he failed to take the charge against Britain bowlers.
Colin Munro the dashing batsman was expected to create havoc in Britain’s bowler/s
mind through his style of playing lofted shots but he got succumbed to pressure
as a result he scored 110 runs without any score of 50+ which is not so good
for a player who has scored 3 Centuries in T20I Cricket. There is not a glue in
the batting line up of New Zealand who was rested and injured in the form of
Kane Williamson who guides the team in the middle overs and helps the team to
get to a strong finish later in the death overs; if New Zealand can find
another player similar to Kane Williamson who knows the art of rotating strike
then Black Caps would definitely be able to chase humongous totals.
Mitchell Santner the crafty left arm over off spinner
was the leading wicket taker of this T20I Series with 11 scalps to his name.
Santner was a treat to watch as he was a partnership breaker bowler for Southee
& Co. Mitchell Santner got the rewards for his impeccable bowling and some
what credit goes to Ish Sodhi as both the spinners bowled in tandem due to
which Santner shined on the big stage whereas Ish Sodhi took 3 wickets and he
also got a lot of beating as he was taken to cleaners. Lockie Ferguson the
short ball specialist and Tim Southee the deceptive fast bowler both of them
took 4 wickets each in this Series. The contribution of both these bowlers
wasn’t enough as picking 4 wickets in a Series of 5 Matches is indeed inviting
a havoc. The duo of Boult and Southee in the shortest format is devastating but
they need a cunning 3rd Seamer whose job should be to break the
partnership which wasn’t there in this T20I Series. The spin department of
Black Caps is almost perfect and ideal because the form of Mitchell Santner can
give head aches to the opposition team but the only concern for New Zealand is
that they need a partnership breaker bowler who can be Lockie Ferguson or any
other all-rounder in the form of James Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme.
#England
Dawid Malan the elegant left handed batsman was the leading run scorer of the T20I Series where he amassed 208 runs which included one century and his maiden ton of 103 runs in just 51 balls in the 4th T20I Match and one half century. Dawid Malan was on fire with his shot selection as he gave nightmares to New Zealand’s bowlers. It looks like Malan now has cemented his place in the playing 11 with such a scintillating performance. Eoin Morgan the barnstorming skipper scored 192 runs and his knock of 91 runs in the 4th T20I Match was brilliant. Morgan took the team out of trouble through his attacking style of cricket. James Vince the opening batsman scored 110 runs which included one half century. Vince failed to convert the starts into a big score. Jonnny Bairstow the rampant opener scored 90 runs and his contribution of 47 runs in just 18 balls in the 5th T20I was the only positive thing for him. Jonny Bairstow and James Vince both of them now have made now their selection tough as such below par performance/s definitely has open the gates for the star players like Jason Roy and Sam Billings. Morgan made a statement that if a player plays to his potential then no one can stop that team from reaching new heights. Chris Jordan the Bowler who took the game in Super Over with his all-round hitting capabilities was the leading wicket taker with 7 Wickets. Jordan was bang on target with the death bowling as he was putting brakes on the scoring in the death overs. Sam Curran was the debutant who impressed everyone with his witty bowling style as he grabbed 6 wickets. Sam Curran was exceptional with the new ball and also with the old ball which gave the team his 3 dimensional nature as he was also a dangerous finisher. Matthew Parkinson who was also a debutant made a mark about himself by picking up 5 wickets and his spell of 4 wickets in the 4th T20I Match was splendid. Tom Curran who was expected to play the role of senior death over specialist was at his best as he stopped the big hitters in the death overs as he took 4 wickets. The bench strength of England is absolutely awesome as defeating New Zealand in their own backyard doesn’t happen overnight or in a fortnight. There are now selection headaches in the bowling department which is a good headache to have rather than to be unsure about the bowlers.
In this Article there is critical analysis done of the
entire ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Each & every Team’s Performance has been
noted with an unbiased view and written in a Pragmatic Way.
#India
For the second consecutive time India failed to win a Semi Final match in ICC Cricket World Cup as earlier in 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup Australia demolished India and now in 2019 New Zealand diminished India’s dream of winning World Cup in England as in 1983 Kapil Dev lifted the World Cup in England in 1983. The Semi-Final played between India and New Zealand made a statement about India’s middle order woes and this conundrum has been going on since India won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. The Management and skipper of team India took horrendous & horrible decision as they send MS Dhoni to bat at No.7 position which costed Team India the World Cup.
India at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Rohit Sharma the exuberant hitter of the ball had a
dream World Cup as he was the leading run scorer of the Tournament as he
amassed 648 Runs which included 5 centuries and 1 half century; Rohit became
the first batsman to score 5 Centuries in a World Cup. Rohit had a rare failure
in the Semi Final but that proved to be heart wrecking for the entire Nation. Virat
Kohli the run machine was scoring 50s on a consistent basis as he scored 443
runs which included 5 half centuries. Virat Kohli now has a history of not
performing in knock out matches as from 2011 World Cup he has failed miserably
i.e. he has not even scored a match winning knock of at-least 50 runs in the last
5 crunch games. This performance of Virat disturbs the environment of dressing
room as when there is need of a Star Player to perform and shine on the Big
Stage then Virat gets out cheaply and the entire morale of Team India goes down
as a result India has failed to win 2015 World Cup and 2019 World Cup as in
both these World Cups India’s performance was incredible. KL Rahul who was in
the team as a No.4 batsman played as an opener because Shikhar Dhawan got
injured while playing against Australia in the league stage. KL Rahul had a
decent World Cup as an opener because his performance was topsy-turvy but he
managed to score 361 runs which included 1 century and 2 half centuries. KL
Rahul couldn’t fill the shoes of Shikhar Dhawan as he was often targeted outside
the off stump. MS Dhoni once again proved his mettle by providing a finish at
the end. Dhoni couldn’t take the team home in the Semi Final as the bulk of
wickets were lost and he had an insurmountable responsibility on his shoulders
to take the team out of shell. Dhoni didn’t had a memorable final World Cup but
his witty tricks of wicket keeping and a little bit of brutal hitting would be
remembered for some period of time as he scored 273 runs which included 2 half
centuries. The likes of Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik now have their places
in a dangerous position as both of them didn’t live up to their expectations.
Rishabh Pant the dashing wicket keeper and batsman needs to sort out his shot
selection technique otherwise his sacking is also on the cards. Hardik Pandya tried to become the finisher of
India but lack of experience on big stage backfired for him and for India but
he managed to score 226 runs with a heathy strike rate.
India’s batting line up no doubt has the caliber to
post humongous totals on board and they can also chase such targets; but
whenever there is a do or die match India doesn’t put a fight on display which
is an excruciating fact which is sad but true. The next ICC Cricket World Cup
is in India where India had won in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni and
Coach Gary Kirsten ; as Virat was a part of that Playing 11 and Squad he knows
what traits and strategies are required to clinch that Trophy but the most
important thing which Virat should keep in his heed that Winning ICC Cricket
World Cup requires Team-Work not individual Performance/s.
The bowling department of India was led by a young
sensation Jasprit Bumrah as he was ruthless with his various deliveries which
gave headaches to the entire remaining 9 Nations as a result, he took 18
wickets in his first ever ICC Cricket World Cup which included one 4 wicket
haul. Bumrah kept on bowling Jaffa deliveries and his bang on target Yorker as
he somewhat revolutionized the fast bowling of India. Mohammed Shami set the
stage on fire as he took a Hat-Trick against Afghanistan on 22nd
June and he became the 2nd Indian to take a hat-trick as earlier
Chetan Sharma took a Hat-Trick against the Mighty Kiwis in 1987 World Cup on 31st
October. Even if this Hat-Trick was taken against a minnow nation but in that match,
India was in a precarious situation; if the result of the match would have been
different then it would have been ignominious act for nation. Shami was immaculate
with his line and length and he made the most of his World Cup Experience as he
was helping and guiding the bowlers; it happened ‘n’ times that through his
bowling the other bowlers like Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar got wickets as all these
3 bowlers & 2 bowlers bowled in tandem; but the wickets column of Shami was
filled with 14 wickets which included two 4 wicket hauls and one 5 wicket haul.
Hardik Pandya was given responsibility of being a 5th bowler; but he
was at times taken for cleaners also but he took 10 wickets and provided break
throughs whenever skipper needed. Bhuvneshwar Kumar the King of swing bowling
wasn’t up to his mark in this World Cup as earlier he was providing the break
throughs in power play overs but overall performance of Bhuvneshwar was
satisfactory but not outstanding as he took 10 wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal the deceptive leg spinner
foxed batsman with his variations which proved to be as a wicket taking weapon
for Virat because Chahal never disappointed Virat as he took 12 Wickets which
included one 4 wicket haul. Kuldeep Chahal the left arm china-man was expected
to completely destroy the batting line up of teams but his variations weren’t
threatening as earlier in 2018 when India played against England in England, he
created havoc in England but this time he took mere 6 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja
the player who makes his presence felt that with his acrobatic fielding style
and also with his skill of finishing overs in a short span of 2-3 minutes which
is incredible; in this World Cup Ravindra Jadeja would be remembered for his
pugnacious knock of 77 runs in just 59 balls in the Semi Final against Kiwis.
The Bowling department of India was a bit
inexperienced on ICC stage especially in the spin department but as the time
would pass the bowlers would be full of experience and they would be a force to
reckon with. India’s bowling line up was one of the best in the tournament and
history is evident that India’s bowlers perform in a scintillating way which is
the reason why India is a Champion Team and to beat them the opposition team
needs to play out of their skin to excel on the big stage.
#Australia
For the first time in the history of ICC Cricket World Cup Australia lost a Semi-Final Match that too against their arch-rivals England. Australia couldn’t retain the World Cup which they earlier had won in their own backyard 2015 in the Leadership of their Former Courageous Captain Michael Clarke. The Semi-Final was a one-sided affair where the Britishers razed Aussies; in that Semi-Final Aussies two elegant batsman Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja were not in the Playing 11 as both of them unfortunately got injured just before the Semi-Final which hurt the Aussies a lot as these 2 batsmen were the pillars of the middle order. Finch, Warner and Smith were doing the bulk of scoring throughout the tournament but in the Semi Final only Smith played knock of Senior Batsman and; the Novice Alex Carey displayed his character when he got a dangerous bouncer from Jofra Archer as a result Carey was in blood as the bouncer ball removed the helmet and he was severely injured but he continued batting for his Team and Nation and this scene showcased the Spirit which Aussies have; as earlier in ICC World Cup 2011 Bret Lee got severely injured while saving a boundary in the Quarter Final against India and after this incident he applied a bandage and continued to play for the nation and every sportsperson should have such type of Spirit when playing for their Country. Australia’s middle order looked fragile throughout the tournament but it didn’t come into notice as Warner and Finch did the majority of the scoring and when both of them failed to perform in Semi-Finals which are regarded as toughest the entire team collapsed and lost its momentum and rhythm
Australia at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Warner and Smith were making a comeback to
International Cricket after their infamous ball tampering scandal in which both
the players played crucial part which they have admitted. David Warner dazzled
throughout the tournament as he made a point that he may be a controversial
cricketer but he has the spark and ignition in himself to shine on the big
stage as he scored 647 runs which included 3 Centuries and 3 Half Centuries.
David Warner looked like a man on a mission which the cricketing world earlier
missed because the passion and aggression which Warner possesses is a joy to
watch. Smith showed some glimpses of his memorable 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup
but he didn’t score a match winning knock i.e. a century was missing from Smith
as in 2015 Smith was one of the main architects along with Finch for their
famous victory against India in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Smith was finding
gaps and rotating strike at ease as a result he scored 379 runs which included
4 Half-Centuries but that Steve Smith factor was some sort missing in this
World Cup. Aaron Finch the accidental Skipper had an unbelievable World Cup
with the bat as he scored 507 runs which included 2 Centuries and 3
Half-Centuries. Finch made a statement that to get used to captaincy it takes
time but when a player plays his natural game then Captaincy feels like a
Complementary thing to have as earlier Finch had struggled a lot. Aaron Finch
was marshalling his troops as earlier he had the experience of Captaining the
T20I Team of Australia. Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh were expected to play the
role of rescuing the team from hiccups but both of them failed; Glenn Maxell
who was expected to play the role of an experienced all-rounder but he didn’t
showcase his skills and his technique of playing attacking and aggressive shots
was only for a short period of time as he managed 177 runs and now Maxwell is
on the radar of selectors because Ashton Turner the hero of Mohali ODI is
banging the door of Australia. Marcus Stoinis the Fast Arm Medium Bowler who was
expected to fill the void of all-rounder was awful according to his potential.
Australia found an almost perfect middle order batsman in the form of Alex
Carey who somewhat reminds of the Former Batsman Mike Hussey through his shots
and Carey is unarguably and undoubtedly the future of Australian Cricket which
should be groomed by the Selectors and Coach because he is also a good
wicket-keeper as in this World Cup he scored 375 runs which included 3 Half
Centuries and his way of pacing the innings is resplendent.
Australia would definitely rue the fact that they
missed a golden opportunity to lift the Cup at Lords, but if they look at the
period before World Cup where the entire team was in disarray and there was lot
of turmoil in Cricket Australia (CA); Australia would definitely take pride in
reaching the Semi-Finals as in this World Cup there was cut-throat competition
as all the 10 Teams were equally matched.
As the Ban of Smith’s Captaincy is going to end in March 2020 there are
slim chances that Smith would again be the skipper of Australia’s ODI Team; as
the next World Cup is in 2023 India it would be interesting to see whether
Cricket Australia want Smith as a pure batsman or as a Skipper. The only worry
for Australia as they have not found the ideal replacements for Shane Watson
and Michael Clarke as both these players played invaluable roles in lifting the
World Cup at Home Soil in 2015 but as there is still a long rally ahead
Australia can definitely find perfect batsmen in the Middle Order.
Mitchell Starc once again performed to his potential
in ICC Cricket World Cup as in this World Cup
he bagged 27 wickets which included two 4 wicket hauls and two 5 wicket
hauls and he was the leading wicket taker for the second consecutive time as
earlier in 2015 World Cup he was the joint leading wicket taker along with Trent
Boult where both of them grabbed 22 wickets. What just happens to Starc in ICC
Cricket World Cup is beyond imagination as in the period from 2015-19 he had
played few ODI’s but he always makes sure that a Star Athlete and Bowler makes
a statement about his performance and also about the culture of Board. Patrick
Cummins made reverse swing a delight to watch and whenever Finch gave the ball
to Cummins, he not only took wickets but also slowed down the run rate which is
badly needed if you want to beat Champion Teams as he took 14 Wickets. Jason
Behrendorff the left arm Pacer enthralled everyone with his new ball swing
capability and he took the batsman by storm with his clocking pace. Jason wasn’t
that much effective when the ball got old as a result he also got beating from
the batsman and he took 9 Wickets. Marcus Stoinis the complete all-rounder did
the work of breaking partnership somewhat as he took 7 Wickets but performing
in a crunch game overshadowed his contribution to the Team. Adam Zampa and Nathan
Lyon weren’t able to create pressure on the opponent; they weren’t picking
wickets at regular intervals and they were only going through their overs which
is unacceptable at the International Stage.
Australia’s fast bowling Pace Attack is unarguably one
of the Best attacks but they should have a complete bowling line up i.e. there
should be mixture of pace and spin in World Cup and in this World Cup
Australia’s spinners didn’t perform or we can say did any noticeable action
which is one of the reason Australia couldn’t Win the World Cup for the 6th
Time. The next World Cup is going to be conducted in India were spinners
dominate the game and proceedings a lot; Aussies definitely have got the talent
in spin department in the form of Adam Zampa, Ashton Agar and Nathan Lyon but
Cricket Australia should show faith in their wrist spinners and off spinners as
all these 3 spinners are tyro in ODI format .Australia should not only try out
other options but they should also make sure that Starc and Cummins are in the
frame of ODI Cricket because every-time Starc and Cummins are not going to come
and play ICC Cricket World Cup after a gap of more than 6 months &
Australia should make it clear that whether they want Josh Hazlewood only for
Test format as Josh Hazlewood was the part of the squad of ICC Cricket World
Cup 2015.
#England
England finally have ended a 44-year drought by clinching the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 that too with the help of boundary count as the match went into the Super Over & Super Over was also tied. The management of England took vital and pivotal decisions by sending Butler and Stokes for Super Over and the Super Over was bowled by the T20I Specialist Jofra Archer which definitely paid off. England lifted the World Cup at Lords after so much hard-work and perspiration and their process was immediately started after their embarrassing performance in 2015 WC.
England elated as they won their maiden ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Joe Root the wall of England’s batting line up was in
supreme form as he scored 556 runs which included two 100s and three 50s. He
was unarguably the rock of England’s line up as he took the team out of the
trouble and he made a statement that he may be an orthodox batsman but the has
got the technique and temperament to thrive in every condition. Jonny Bairstow the dashing opener succumbed
to criticism earlier in the tourney but he made a mark for himself by amassing
532 runs which included two 100s and two 50s. Bairstow played his natural game
which proved to be critical and crucial for team because Bairstow has been the
main aggressor in power play overs. Ben Stokes the flamboyant all-rounder was demolishing
the bowlers over the entire park with his clean striking and strike rotation which
is a also significant trait which a batsman and all-rounder should have as he
smashed 465 runs which included five 50s and he was also productive with the
ball as he grabbed 7 wickets. Jason Roy the brutal opener was amazing with his
sumptuous way of batting as a result he scored 443 runs which included one 100
and four 50s. Roy took the pressure off from Bairstow as their opening
partnership was in harmony which was also one of the reason Britishers won
World Cup at their home soil. Eoin Morgan the skipper had a mediocre tournament
with the bat except when he came into bat against Afghanistan where he thrashed
the entire bowling line up of Afghanistan as in that innings he scored 148 runs
in just 71 balls which included 17 Sixes
and 4 Fours and while Rashid Kan the witty leg spinner had figures of 110 runs
in 9 overs and all this happened on 18th June 2019. Morgan scored
371 runs which included one 100 & one 50 but he made sure that his
captaincy clicked when the team was defending a target. Jos Butler the
swashbuckling wicket keeper batsman wasn’t a big threat but his knock in the
final of WC and in Super Over proved to be match winning effort from him as he scored
312 runs which included one 100 and two 50s.
England would be extremely happy and jubilant as finally
they have the World Cup in their hall of fame. The way they won the World Cup shows
that for any nation to clinch a trophy you need to give your whole & soul
then only there would be chances that you would grab the trophy. The next World
Cup is scheduled in India in 2023 and as now England’s players are getting
acclimatized to Indian conditions via IPL ; England have definitely got the batsmen
who can destroy the opposition but as of now they need to make their bench strength
sturdy then only they can survive in Indian conditions because in this World
Cup Jason Roy got injured in the middle and his replacement (James Vince) was
awful due to which England got a scare that they would get eliminated before
the knock out stage but somehow Roy was fit for big matches and he made his presence
felt with mind blowing performances. To avoid such circumstances in the opening
pair England should make it clear whether they want Alex Hales back as he is an
experienced campaigner. The middle order of England is puissant as they have
got an impeccable allrounder who can give nightmares to the opposition through
his batting and bowling. The main issue and concern for England is: Do they want
Morgan as a skipper or only as a pure batsman because his form got deteriorated
with the burden of captaincy but whoever the skipper may be England would
definitely go for kill in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
It was a dream World Cup for Jofra Archer as he bagged
20 Wickets and he was a wicket taking machine for Morgan and Co. Jofra Archer’s
super over spell almost break the hearts of British but his experience of
playing cricket leagues around the world paid off. Jofra Archer was an asset
for England because whenever Morgan wanted to stop the run rate he gave the
ball to Jofra and as Jofra Archer had no experience of playing in Cricket World
Cup he followed the guidelines of Management which did Wonders for the Nation
and Team. Mark Wood the speedster took 18 Wickets which include one 4 wicket
haul and he was also used as a wicket taking option. Chris Woakes the fast
bowling all-rounder was a treat to watch as he took 16 wickets and Woakes with
the new ball was far more effective. Liam Plunkett the veteran fast bowler
guided the entire bowling line up and made sure that he played the role of an
experienced bowler by taking 11 Wickets and he was a partnership breaker fast
bowler. Adil Rashid the leg spinner made his presence fell as he took 7 wickets
and was often used as to slow down the run rate.
England definitely has got good bunch of fast bowlers
who play only in ODI Format in the form of David Willey who was unfortunate to miss
out as Jofra Archer made the cut and there are many bowlers who are still waiting
in the Wings to perform and create the name and to have such headaches is
indeed a blessing in disguise for England. As the next World Cup is being
conducted in India were the Pacers are not in ascendancy but they make the
initial period tough for batsmen. England need a companion for Adil Rashid as
we all know that Moeen Ali is not that much effective with the ball i.e.
England need a wicket taking option spinner. But as England’s team play and
perform as a team this issue of spinner will definitely get sorted out in the
near future and if not then the pair of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid is also a
decent one.
#New Zealand
For the second consecutive time New Zealand failed to outclass the opposition in the Final as earlier Australia won the title by defeating New Zealand convincingly whereas now New Zealand were so near yet so far of winning World Cup for the first time against the resurgent England. The super over which was played was an emotional one because the fate and result of the game was decided by a boundary count rule. New Zealand performed a bit better than the 2015 Cricket World Cup but the final hurdle wasn’t cleared by the Kiwis under the rein of Kane Williamson but the overall performance of New Zealand was supreme and astonishing.
New Zealand the Runners Up at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Kane Williamson the gritty skipper showcased his
brilliance by notching 578 runs which included two 100s and two 50s. Kane was not
a wall who guided the team but he was a shield where he took the team out of
shell and he made sure that his batting speaks as he was a force to reckon and
deal with. Ross Taylor the veteran and immensely experienced scored 350 runs which
included three 50s and his knocks even of 30s and 40s proved to be vital for
team’s success. There were much higher expectations from Ross as he was the
senior lad and was expected to guide the team and take team out from a tough
phase which he didn’t did on a consistent basis. James Neesham the dexterous all-rounder
played with full buoyance and also with responsibility as he scored 232 runs
which included one 50 and he along with Colin De Grandhomme took the team out of
trouble as CDG scored 190 runs which included two 50s and the contribution of
both the batsmen was invaluable for the team as when the team lost a couple of wickets
around 20-25 overs then both these played a humongous role in setting a
mediocre target. Martin Guptill the destructive opener didn’t produce a single
humdinger knock for team as he scored 186 runs which included one 50. Due to
such performance of Guptill there was enormous pressure on Kane Williamson, Ross
Taylor and Tom Latham. Tom Latham had a forgettable World Cup as he couldn’t
score considerable runs and knock/s.
As the next World Cup is in India 2023 New Zealand
need to find an ideal opening partner for Guptill because blaming Guptill is
not a good thing to do as Openers need to contribute if a team wants to excel
and beat a Champion Team which New Zealand failed to do in 2015 and in 2019. As
there is uncertainty of Ross Taylor whether he would play another World Cup
because he is currently 35 years and by the next World Cup he would be 39 so
the chances of Ross playing is extinct; so New Zealand are in a bit of dilemma because
they used Henry Nicholls as an opener as Colin Munro was flop in the World Cup
as a result he was dropped from the playing 11. The batting line up of New
Zealand is almost ideal and good but their middle order batsman need to learn
the strike rotation and if they can master that then there is a chance that New
Zealand may win the next ICC Cricket World Cup because in India the batsmen are
going to dictate.
Lockie Ferguson the lanky and disciplined fast bowler
was the leading wicket taker as he bagged 21 wickets which included one 4
Wicket haul. He was bang on target with his short ball as he perturbed the
batsmen with short ball barrage. Trent Boult the lightning and immaculate fast
bowler was impeccable with his bowling as he took 17 Wickets which included two
4 wicket hauls; but the decision of giving Boult the Super Over backfired as he
was hammered by England for 15 runs. Boult became the first Kiwi fast bowler to
take a hat-trick in World Cup and in ODI also that too against their
arch-rivals Australia on 29th June 2019 Boult did have a splendid
World Cup because with the new ball he had taken a million-dollar wicket of
Virat Kohli in the Semi Final which opened the gates of final for New Zealand.
Matt Henry who shared the new ball with Trent Boult was also effective as he
grabbed 14 Wickets which included one 4 wicket haul. Matt Henry was
instrumental with the new ball as he took the place of Tim Southee who was
struggling for form throughout the tourney but Matt Henry made sure that he
took early scalps which proved to be match defining in the Semi-Final against India
where he took wicket of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma which completely diminished
India’s hopes of World Cup. James Neesham the eclectic all-rounder took 15
wickets which included one 5 wicket haul and he provided the break through when
team badly needed which made him a star all-rounder to have. Colin De Grandhomme the furious all-rounder made
his presence felt by picking up 6 wickets and he didn’t allow the opposition to
run away with the game. There was no significant and ample contribution done by
the spinners of New Zealand and the spinners were only present on the paper as
on the field Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi didn’t pick up crucial wickets.
The bowling line up of New Zealand is full of zeal and
the only problem, worry and concern is that the spinners are not picking up
wickets. There is a lot of variety in the fast bowling department of New
Zealand without any question and doubt; but only the fast bowlers are doing the
hard work and as the next World Cup which is in India the spinners must trouble
and irritate the batsman which New Zealand’s spinners failed to do it. The spin
twin of Santner and Sodhi is dangerous but both of them need to show results if
New Zealand want to perform better in the next World Cup as compared to 2015 &
2019. The 2023 World Cup would be dominated by spinners so New Zealand need to
pull up the socks and enhance their current spin twin which is threatening but
it should be groomed well.
#Pakistan
Pakistan missed a golden opportunity as they failed to make it to the Semi-Finals and the main reason behind their absence is that they lost the 1st Group Match against West Indies very badly in term of balls left and wickets in hand. There was typical batting collapse in the tourney which hurt Pakistan a lot. Under Sarfaraz’s captaincy and in the presence of two immensely experienced veteran batsmen: Mohammed Hafeez and Shoaib Malik also didn’t help Pakistan to make an entry into knock- outs. Pakistan team was crestfallen after two huge defeats against West Indies and India but still they put a fight on display which proved a little too late to prove a point in World Cup.
Pakistan at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Babar Azam the run machine for Pakistan amasses 474
runs which included one 100 and three 50s. He was literally and practically the
back bone of Pakistan’s batting line up and team. Imam-ul- Haq the relative of
Inzamam-ul-Haq performed to his potential as he scored 305 runs which included one
100 and one 50; but he didn’t play according to the expectations because from an
opener at-least couple of match winning knocks are expected which he failed to attain;
because Fakhar Zaman the opening partner struggled a lot against the new ball
as he scored 186 runs which included a
single 50+ score. The veteran Hafeez failed
to perform the role of a senior lad as he scored 253 runs which included a
single 50+ score. Hafeez didn’t play according to the situation of game which
hurt Pakistan a lot. Haris Sohail the elegant left-handed batsman came into the
playing 11 as Shoaib Malik the former skipper failed miserably throughout the
tournament. Haris Sohail made the most of the opportunity as he scored 198 runs
which included two half centuries and both knocks were in team’s victory. Haris
Sohail made a statement that if a batsman wants to score runs then placement
and shot selection technique matters and not lofted shots method where you go
bang -bang. Sarfaraz the skipper failed to play captain’s knock and Sarfaraz
the batsman also failed to grab attention by his runs. The batting line up of
Pakistan was controlled by Babar Azam which is a good thing but when he failed
then the entire team didn’t showcase a fight and they were just falling like a
pack of cards which is excruciating for any nation and team management.
There are serious question marks and uncertainty
regarding the captaincy of Sarfaraz and for Sarfaraz the things have turned out
to be ugly too promptly because this was the same Sarfaraz who was appraised
for his spectacular performance in 2017 Champions Trophy. As the next World Cup
which is in 2023 India Pakistan have got many problems regarding their middle
order as Shoaib Malik has taken retirement and still there is uncertainty regarding
the future of Hafeez and also Pakistan lack a proper lower middle order where
there should be a finisher like Michael Bevan which they miss badly. But as there
is a long rally ahead Pakistan would be able to find a good leader who brings
out the most from every player as the WC in India would be very competitive as
compared to 2019 and 2011.
Mohammad Aamir the new ball bowler was the leading
wicket taker of Pakistan with 17 wickets which included one 5 wicket haul. Aamir
somewhat lost his swing with the new ball as he was taken to the cleaners by
batsmen but later in the middle and death over, he took wickets. Shaheen Shah
Afridi the tyro fast bowler grabbed eyeballs and attention of everyone as he took
16 scalps which included one 4 wicket haul and one 5 wicket haul. Shaheen was
very much disciplined regarding his line and length and he definitely is the
future of Pakistan for a very much long span of time. Wahab Riaz the old horse
was expected to play the role of senior but he performed in only couple of
matches as he took 11 wickets but it was expected that Wahab would guide and groom
the pace trio of Hasan Ali, Mohammad Aamir and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Hassan Ali who
was the Man of the Tournament in 2017 Champions Trophy didn’t performed to his
level as a result there weren’t any major contributions from him. Shadab Khan
the juvenile spinner didn’t produce match winning spells as he took 9 wickets
and he lacked support from Imad Wasim which wasn’t there at all. The bowling
line up of Pakistan failed to perform and play like a team which has been
happening from the last decade which PCB should take note of.
There is not a question or doubt regarding the talent
which Pakistan’s bowlers have but such talent which is raw should be guided in
an appropriate manner then only Pakistan’s bowling line up would be a threat
and a treat to watch. The bowlers should be rotated in order to create and
develop the bench strength because if in a crunch match a star player gets
injured then the bench should have a perfect replacement for that player and
this is the main reason why Champions Team clinch trophies and titles. As the
World Cup of 2023 would be played in India which is in sub-continent Pakistan would
be some sort of jubilant and happy that they won’t face any short ball treatment
which they faced in the First League Match against West Indies which in fact
ended their hopes of making it to Semi Finals. Pakistan need to be chary regarding
the choice of their new skipper because the dynamics of team depend a lot on
the skipper and the dressing room’s environment is also critical for a team’s
success.
#Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka had named a new skipper for the tourney in the form of the Test Match Specialist Dimuth Karunaratne who did a decent job. Not entire but the batting and bowling department was revamped where new and old faces come back in the squad. In the starting phase of the tournament Sri Lanka overcame a scare as Afghanistan gave them a sniff but Sri Lanka won the game by 34 runs according to the DLS Method on 4th June 2019. Sri Lanka also gave nightmares to England as they astonished them by winning the match by 20 runs on 21st June 2019 and this was a significant attainment which they would be proud of. Sri Lanka showcased brilliant performances in bits and pieces but they couldn’t maintain consistency as a result they failed to make it to knock-outs.
Sri Lanka at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Kusal Perera the dynamic left-handed batsman who
reminds of Sanath Jayasuriya was the leading run scorer for Sri Lanka as he
scored 273 runs which included three 50s. Kusal’s way of playing shots and
rotation of strike was similar to the Legend Sanath Jayasuriya but he couldn’t display a knock of a century which Sri Lanka
badly needed to post challenging totals. Angelo Mathews the senior batsman played
the role of experienced lad as he scored 244 runs which included one 100 and
one 50. Mathews required support of his remaining team-mates which wasn’t there
most of the times as a result there was slump in Sri Lanka’s performance.
Dimuth Karunaratne who earlier in 2015 played the World Cup was the skipper
this time and he had a topsy-turvy World Cup where he scored 222 runs which
included two 50s. The batting positions of players where changed from match to
match which perturbs a player. Avishka Fernando the young sensation took the World
Cup by Storm as he scored 203 runs which included his maiden ODI ton against
West Indies on 1st July 2019. He showcased great mental application in
the World Cup which was missing from the other batsmen.
The batting department of Sri Lanka has got all the quality
but the only concern is that the players should be given a long rope to prove
their mettle then only Sri Lanka would find winning 11 which currently they don’t
have. But as the next World Cup is 4 years away Sri Lanka would definitely find
a good mix of players because defeating England doesn’t happen in an overnight
or in fortnight; they definitely have got players but SLC board has to put that
players in current order and position and if this is done in a proper manner
then Sri Lanka team would be a threat which no one can imagine.
Lasith Malinga the Yorker machine was at his best as
he took 13 wickets which included one 4 wicket haul. The spell of Malinga against
England was mesmerizing and throughout the tourney Malinga reminded his older
version of 2007, 2011 and 2015 through his impeccable bowling and as of now
Malinga has retired from 50 over World Cup the Yorker Machine would be missed
by everyone. Isuru Udana the deceptive bowler who bowls most of his deliveries
slow took 6 wickets. The entire bowling unit didn’t take enough wickets as a
result there was burden (pressure) on Malinga and Udana to take wickets.
The bowlers of Sri Lanka should be given a long rope in
order to develop the raw talent. There is abundance of fast bowlers and spinners
in Sri Lanka but the only problem which the management is facing is that the fast
bowlers and spinners are frequently changed. If such continues then the
performance of 2019 World Cup would be imitated in 2023 World Cup because in a World
Cup individual performance can win few matches but team performance/s will definitely
win you championships.
#South Africa
The absence of A B de Villers was clear cut seen throughout the World Cup as he had a habit of taking the team out of trouble which he did on a regular basis. South Africa started their campaign against England where they were convincingly beaten. Bangladesh for the second time defeated South Africa in World Cups as earlier on 7 April 2007 Bangladesh defeated South Africa by 67 runs in the Super Eight Stage and on 2 June 2019 Bangladesh once again showcased their wittiness as they defeated South Africa by 21 runs. South Africa weren’t quite ready for the challenges which the opposition team posted on board.
South Africa at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Faf the skipper amassed 387 runs which included one
100 and three 50s. He was the lone striker and contributor for team but he also
failed in crucial matches and situations. Rassie Van Der Dussen had a decent
World Cup where he scored 311 runs which included three 50s. He was rotating
the strike on a consistent basis which is priceless in ODI format. Quinton De
Kock the energetic wicket keeper had a mediocre World Cup as he scored 305 Runs
which included three 50s. Quinton failed to play a scintillating knock in the
World Cup. Hashim Amla the immensely experienced batsman failed to perform to
his potential as he scored 203 runs which included two 50s. Amla’s absence of
form and runs was a major part in the decline of South Africa team in World
Cup. There was no ample and ominous contribution from JP Duminy who had experience
of playing in 2 World Cups and now who has taken retirement. David Miller didn’t
play to his potential as his performance got deteriorated a lot. In the middle
of the tournament there came some rumors regarding A B wanted to come out of retirement
to represent and help the nation but after the league stage got over A B stated
the rumors and statements were false. The entire batting department got booged
down by pace and spin as the team lacked character and courage.
The entire batting department of South Africa would be
changed as there is uncertainty regarding the availability of Faf as a player
and skipper. The next World Cup would be a big challenge for CSA as all the players
won’t have experience of 100 ODI’s and
to add more to that the WC is in sub-continent were spinners dominate the proceedings.
It doesn’t mean that South Africa don’t stand a chance in next World Cup but
their road map is very tough and hard one which requires proper planning and
perfect execution which is attainable but would require arduous work.
Chris Morris the allrounder was the leading wicket
taker of South Africa with 13 Wickets. Chris Morris was expensive but he
grabbed and seized crucial phases of the match. Andile Phelukwayo the cunning fast
bowling all-rounder took 11 wickets in the tourney. His variations were
different which gave him and South Africa the results. Imran Tahir the crafty leg spinner also took
retirement from ODI’s and he took 11 Wickets which included one 4 Wicket Haul. Tahir
wasn’t that destructive with his spin as the batsmen quite easily picked out
the variations. Kagiso Rabada the young sensation didn’t perturb the batsmen
with his pace because his pace also got a bit less but he took 11 wickets.
Lungi Ngidi the tyro fast bowler was injured and his absence was quite evident
in the tournament as he took 7 wickets. Dale Steyn who was expected to play in
World Cup got injured and his injury was not healed as a result he was ruled
out of the World Cup. The entire bowling line up didn’t had the “X Factor” which
was the main flaw in their Bowling Department.
The bowling line up of South Africa has got players
who can fill the shoes of their great legendary pacers and spinners but the
only question, problem or we can say issue is that the players are inexperienced
and novice and they should be given ample time to establish their name in the
Cricketing World even when they perform and this is an annoying process but in
the near future South Africa would again be a bowling force to reckon. The next
World Cup is in subcontinent where the Pacers don’t have their hegemony but in
the initial phase of match Pacers can create some kind of havoc which South Africa
should not forget. South Africa need to keep an eye on Tabraiz Shamsi the left
arm china man who definitely can dismantle the opposition with his variations.
There are question marks regarding the captaincy of Faf so there is a chance
that Quinton De Kock would captain the Proteas team for ICC Cricket World Cup
2023
#Bangladesh
Bangladesh failed to keep the momentum going forward because
when they had beaten South Africa they raised a quite eye brows but they couldn’t
sustain the atmosphere like that. Bangladesh once again played to their style
as defeating South Africa doesn’t happen in an overnight but that same passion
for the game was missing in the tourney. The weak link or we can say their
chink in the armory was their bowling which lacked consistency even in the
presence of their Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza who should have led the bowling team
by an example which he couldn’t.
Bangladesh at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Shakib Al Hasan the furious all rounder amassed 606 Runs which included two 100s and five 50s and he also took 11 Wickets which included one 5 wicket haul and by doing such performance he became the first player to achieve both the feats which is a tremendous attainment for Bangladesh. Mushfiqur Rahim the wicket-keeper batsman showcased his batting as well as wicket keeping skills as he scored 367 runs which included one 100 and two 50s. Rahim was the pillar of team i.e. when Shakib failed then he led the batting unit by an example. Tamim Iqbal the dashing opener scored 235 runs which included a single 50 score. A lot was expected from Tamim because in 2017 Champions Trophy which was in England where he scored 293 runs which included one 100 and two 50s and in 2019 WC he failed terribly. Mahmudullah scored 219 runs which included one 50 plus score. From Mahmudullah the team required someone who can give a finishing touch to the innings which he failed to do frequently. Liton Das the tyro batsman scored 184 runs which included one 50 plus score. Liton performed the role of a middle order batsman not in a perfect manner but in a decent way. Bangladesh in the league stage match against West Indies they chased down the target of 322 runs with ease as they chased down in 41.3 over with 7 wickets remaining on 17th June 2019. The batting line up was too much dependent on Shakib and Rahim as a result whenever both failed Bangladesh failed to put a humongous total on the board and also weren’t able to chase down the target put by the opposition.
Bangladesh’s batting line up has got experience and
youth which is incredible. At the same time their players or we can say batsmen
need fix batting positions which determines the future of Bangladesh Cricket.
As the next World Cup is in 2023 India Bangladesh have got the spinners who can
rattle the opposition but they need to figure out their top 8 batsman who would
fit in the playing 11 and if they can do that then Bangladesh can pave their
way in the knock out matches which they had done previously in 2015 WC in Australia
and New Zealand.
Mustafizur Rahman the asset of Bangladesh’s team and
bowling line up took 20 wickets. Mustafizur was instrumental with ball as he gave
the breakthrough for the captain whenever needed but he didn’t got crucial
support from the other bowlers. Mohammad Saifuddin the young sensation took 13
Wickets. He was taken to the cleaners by bowlers due to his inexperience. Mehidy
Hasan the rookie spinner took 6 wickets. He along with Shakib were phenomenal
with their spin variation but the wickets column was not that much filled. The
pace department of Bangladesh wasn’t productive i.e. they didn’t pick up wickets which is must if
you want to excel and beat big teams.
There is no question and doubt regarding the spin
department which day by day is getting improvised and enhanced; but the main
question is that there are no sturdy fast bowlers who can make the batsmen
uncomfortable with pace and bounce with their presence and make an impact in
the innings which hurt and haunted Bangladesh a lot. As the next World Cup is
in 2023 India Bangladesh would definitely produce such above par performance
but now Bangladesh team is no more a minnow who would be happy if they beat South
Africa as of now Bangladesh is a complete unit whose ultimate aim should get
through the knock out stage and if such attitude is there then Bangladesh can
give head-aches to bigger and Champion teams like India and Australia.
#West Indies
West Indies failed to make it to the knock outs as earlier in 2015 WC they made it after going through tough times. West Indies failed to click together as a team which was seen throughout the tourney. The batting order and line up was unstable as the opening pair was changed from match to match which was seen along with the middle order where there was instability in the batting line up which was evident in the tournament. Whenever the batting line up would be changed for most of the times then definitely there is insecurity in the dressing room and in the players mind which is a wake-up call for the board, management and captain.
West Indies at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Nicholas Pooran who was initially named in the team as a back up wicket keeper was a permanent member of the batting line up as he notched up 367 runs which included one 100 and two 50s. Nicholas reminded of Shivnarine Chanderapaul irrespective of the stance but the way of scoring runs was a bit similar. Shai Hope was expected to led the team from the front as he scored 274 runs which included three 50s. Hope was a victim of performance pressure as he failed to convert his starts into humongous knocks. Shimron Hetmyer the explosive batsman was looking to attack each and every ball as a result he scored 257 runs which included two 50s. Hetmyer was playing as if he is going to smash every ball out of the park which is not expected from a proper middle order batsman. Chris Gayle the self-proclaimed Universe Boss scored 242 runs which included two 50s. There was not an onslaught from Gayle in his final 50 Over World Cup which everyone were eagerly waiting. Jason Holder the skipper scored 170 runs which included one 50 run score. Jason the skipper didn’t take the team out of shell and also Jason the batsman was uncertain at which position he should bat. On 22nd June 2019 West Indies failed to chase down the target of 292 runs by only 6 runs where Carlos Brathwaite scored a century knock of 101 runs in 82 balls and that defeat somewhat marked the end of West Indies in 2019 World Cup. Evin Lewis the opener was tried at various middle order positions due to his poor form at the top order. Andre Russell the thunderous all-rounder took the World Cup by storm in the couple of matches but after that his form declined and he also got injured in the middle of the Tournament which made the things worse for West Indies. The injury of Russell opened the gates for Carlos Brathwaite who perfectly played the role of all-rounder as on 22nd June 2019 WI failed to chase down the target of 292 runs by only 6 runs where Carlos played a thunderstorm knock of 101 runs in 82 balls and that defeat somewhat marked the end of West Indies in 2019 World Cup.
The batting department of West Indies badly missed the
services of the immensely experienced Marlon Samuels as the Selectors and Management
ignored him; Samuels the experienced batsman would have laid the foundation for
team where none of the batsmen did. The batting department needs to be well furnished
by the Selection Committee and it is High Time that the Board of West Indies
trust a particular Coach for a span of 4 to 5 years because changing of Coaches
changes the dynamics of the team a lot or we can say very much. The presence of
Hope, Hetmyer and Pooran would definitely mold the next generation as these three
are highly talented but they should be polished well.
Sheldon Cottrell was the leading wicket taker of West
Indies where he bagged 12 Wickets which included one 4 wicket haul. Sheldon wasn’t
that much threatening with the old ball but he got significant swing from the
new ball which created havoc in the opposition team’s mind. Carlos Brathwaite
and Oshane Thomas both of them took 9 Wickets each as Oshane was devastating
with his bang on target bowling and Carlos was deceptive with the slow ball variation
but both of them didn’t pick important wickets in the middle overs. The spin department
was a bit extinct of West Indies as the spinners were expensive and the wickets
column can be said as a bit empty too.
West Indies had to go through World Cup Qualifiers to
make an entry into 2019 WC which is not a good thing to go through as WI are 2
Time World Cup Champions. WI need to play competitive cricket if they want to
raise the ICC Rankings and the best way to do this is by trusting the current
bunch of players which could be around 20-25. As the next World Cup is in India
2023 that World Cup WI want to go through as Favorites and they would love to
see that they won’t play the 2022 WC Qualifiers which would be their main
priority and goal heading to ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
#Afghanistan
Afghanistan failed to win a single match in the group stage which was disappointing to see because in 2015 WC they had defeated the Courageous Scotland and created history by Winning their first World Cup Match. The leadership of Afghanistan in World Cup was given to a player whose place in the team was not fixed or we can say permanent in the form of Gulbadin Naib and he also had no captaincy experience. Due to such decision or we can say step the entire atmosphere of dressing room was a bit different which was seen in the tournament because Asghar Afghan the earlier skipper had laid the foundation for coming in the World Cup and to add more to that he was also dropped from the team without any proper justification which perturbed the team a lot.
Afghanistan at ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Rahmat Shah was the leading run scorer for Afghanistan
as he scored 254 runs which included one 50 plus score. Rahmat was expected to guide
the team when the team was in trouble which he failed to do. Najibullah Zadran
who was an all-rounder scored 230 runs which included one 50 plus score and for
most of the times he was playing attacking cricket which was his peculiarity.
Hashmatullah Shahidi the elegant batsman scored 197 runs which included two 50s.
Shahidi showed mental application to survive which is must for Sub Continental
Players. Gulbadin Naib the skipper also contributed by scoring 194 runs but he
couldn’t produce a match winning knock for team which was badly needed. In the
middle of tournament Mohmmad Shahzad was sent back to home as he was injured
but he later said and proclaimed that ACB has conspired against him and this
issue got heated but ACB said that the claims made by Shahzad are false. Afghanistan
almost scattered Pakistan in the group stage game as Pakistan were requiring
228 runs to chase the target and Pakistan chased that target with 2 balls and 3
wickets remaining; that contest was a nail biting one because at a stage it
looked like Afghanistan would upset Pakistan and end their campaign.
There is definitely talent in Afghanistan Cricket but
the talent is raw which should be nurtured well if Afghanistan wants to win
matches in World Cup. The main problem which was witnessed in World Cup that
the batting department somewhat failed to build big partnerships which is must
if you want to excel in any World Cup and as the next World Cup is in India
Afghanistan would be very much familiar with the Indian Conditions due to the
rise of IPL and they also play bilateral Series against West Indies, Bangladesh
and with many other teams also.
Gulbadin Naib the skipper took 9 wickets but he was
taken to cleaners by the batsmen. Gulbadin took too much pressure of captaincy
which was seen through his bowling. Dawlat Zadran the fast bowler took 8
wickets and his style of bowling took the beating. Mujeeb the tyro and youth
sensation along with Rashid Khan got a reality check regarding their bowling as
their bowling failed to fox the batsmen as Mujeeb took 7 Wickets and Rashid
took 6 Wickets. The bowling line up wasn’t threatening as these bowlers earlier
had troubled the players but this time Afghanistan got a wake-up call regarding
their style and way of bowling.
As the bowling line up of Afghanistan is young and juvenile; they definitely would like to go step forward by not playing the 2022 WC Qualifiers for taking a part in 2023 WC which is in India. The bowling line up of Afghanistan should have fast bowling speedsters who can create pressure on the batsmen and be as threatening and swindling as the spin department. As still there is a long rally ahead for World Cup 2023 Afghanistan need to find out excellent bowling line up and that too with a proper and adequate bench strength.
This ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 made one point that the Cricket is being played only on the field and not on the paper as if the cricket would have been played on paper then India or Australia would have won the title and not England. A single poor performance Costed the Knock-Outs for Pakistan and also one Brilliant Performance which West Indies displayed against Pakistan is not enough to make an entry into the Semi Finals.
Australia stopped Sri Lanka from winning 3rd consecutive T20I Series in Australia because; earlier in 2013 Sri Lanka won the 2 Match T20I Series by a margin of 2-0 and in 2017 Sri Lanka defeated a Second-String Australia Team in a 3 Match T20I Series by a margin of 2-1. Australia’s Top 3 batsmen: Skipper Aaron Finch, David Warner and Steven Smith set the stage on fire with their dominating performances which highlighted the entire T20I Series as Aussies whitewashed Sri Lanka by a margin of 3-0. Sri Lanka looked like a complete opposite team with respect to their performance as earlier they had bamboozled Pakistan in their own backyard by a margin of 3-0. Sri Lanka lacked mental application which is must if you want to thrive and excel in Australia.
Australia completed a 3-0 White-Wash against Sri Lanka at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Vintage David Warner amassed 217 runs which included
his maiden ton in 1st T20I Match and two half centuries. In all the
3 innings he remained not out which you don’t see daily in T20I format. Warner
took time before going all guns blazing as a result Aussies witnessed another
version of David Warner which was sensible and vintage. David Warner looked
like he got his form back as earlier in Ashes 2019 he was troubled and targeted
by the speedster and vulnerable Stuart Broad for most of the times. Aaron Finch
the skipper scored 101 runs which included 1 half century in the 1st
T20I Match. Finch in the power-play overs took the pressure of David Warner and
he was the main aggressor for Aussies. Finch and Warner both understand each other’s
mindset and they also know weak points of each other which is the main reason
why this batting pair is regarded one of the most dangerous. Steven Smith scored
66 runs in which there was 1 half century in 2nd T20I Match of
Series and Smith was looking ominous and significant in this T20I Series. Smith
made a statement that form is temporary but class is permanent as he continued
his sublime form. Glenn Maxwell the flamboyant all rounder was in splendid form
as he scored 62 runs which he scored in 1st T20I and after 2nd
T20I Match Maxwell took an indefinite break from playing cricket in the name of
mental illness. Australia’s batting line
up is threatening as they have got fantastic top 3 batsmen and if they can fix
the conundrum of middle order by getting Maxwell fit and roaring then Aussies are
definitely a team to beat.
Patrick Cummins was the leading wicket taker in this
T20I Series with 6 wickets. Cummins showed his versatility as he was used in
middle overs as well as in death overs. Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar the crafty leg
spinner and orthodox left arm off spinner put the brakes on Sri Lanka’s scoring
as a result Zampa took 5 wickets and Agar scalped 3 wickets. Mitchell Starc the
exuberant bowler took 4 wickets and Starc was nothing but a wicket taking machine
for Finch. The bowling line up of Australia wasn’t tested but the caliber which
Aussie pacers and spinners possess is of supreme quality but the only concern is
that they don’t have a good and wicket taking 3rd Seamer and if they can find
someone like A J Tye or Josh Hazlewood then the bowling attack can perform on
any pitch.

Kusal Perera was the only lightning spark which Sri Lanka had as he scored 100 runs which included 1 half century in 3rd T20I Match. The pressure of a Senior Batsman was taken by Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis as both didn’t perform to their potential as a result there was collapse in all the 3rd T20I Matches. The batting line up of Sri Lanka was tested against short ball barrage and also against lethal Yorkers and impeccable bowling line up of Aussies who were merciless. Not a single batsman scored 50 runs in this T20I Series except Kusal Perera who was a lone striker. As Sri Lanka are going to play Qualifiers in 2020 October for ICC WT20 2020 their players have gone through a nightmare period where they need to learn and get acclimatize to the Conditions as quickly as possible.
Lasith Malinga the experienced campaigner was taken to the cleaners by Smith, Finch and Warner but he took 2 wickets only and being Skipper there were more expectations from him. Lasith Malinga didn’t got ample support from Nuwan Pradeep, Lakshan Sandakan, Lahiru Kumara etc. as each and every bowler was thrashed to all the parts of the ground. Sri Lanka need to sort out whether they trust the current bowlers and bowling line up because the Qualifiers won’t be easy to survive and excel.
